Located near the entrance to the Old Karuizawa Ginza Street, udon specialty restaurant Tsurutontantan is also famous as a dog-friendly restaurant; both the terrace and the restaurant on the first floor are pet-friendly, and the menu for dogs is extensive. In addition to horsemeat pot-au-feu, the menu includes beef stew, venison jerky, and other authentic dishes. Finely cut udon noodles are also available.

Of course, the regular udon menu also offers a wide variety. The "Green Curry Udon" with plenty of vegetables is recommended for owners.

Indoor seating on the first floor is popular among repeat customers with pets

The interior of the restaurant, renovated from the building that was originally the old Karuizawa station building of the Kusakaru Electric Railway, has a somewhat classic atmosphere. If you are visiting with your pet, we recommend the indoor terrace on the first floor. Some air-conditioned areas are pet-friendly, so it is cool in summer and warm in winter. Many repeat customers choose the indoor seats even if they have to wait in line for a while. Since it is located in the center of a popular area, the restaurant is crowded at lunchtime, but if you enter after 3:00 p.m., it is relatively smooth. The cafe can also be used as a café, with a wide selection of sweet dishes such as warabi mochi (rice cakes) and parfaits.

Harunire Terrace in the Karuizawa Hoshino Area is known as a popular spot for tourists accompanied by their pets. Even in this area where popular cafes, restaurants, and general stores are concentrated, "Seirei-bashi Kawakamian" is especially popular with a long line of customers. Fans come from far and wide to taste the flavorful nihachi-soba made from homemade flour. Pets are allowed on the terrace. RK GARDEN is located in a corner of Flower Field Gardens in the Oiwake area, a short distance from the center of Karuizawa. It is an organic Restaurant where you can relax with your pet in the shade of seasonal plants as if you were in a forest.

A popular drink is the herbal tea "Organic Elderflower Cordial. The cordial, a concentrated liquid of herbs and fruits extracted by soaking them in syrup, is available in several different flavors depending on the season. You can choose how you would like to drink it: hot, iced, or soda.

The dishes are prepared by purchasing organic vegetables from local Karuizawa and Nagano Prefecture with an emphasis on freshness, and a vegan menu with vegetables as the main ingredient is available.

Handmade sweets are perfect with a glass of wine!

This café and wine bar is located on the main street leading from Karuizawa Station to Old Karuizawa. About 30 kinds of wines can be tasted by the glass, which they hope you will enjoy casually. Several kinds of desserts are always available. The moist and rich gateau chocolat, as the name suggests, tastes just like eating chocolate. Seasonal fruits served on the side accentuate the taste. The nougat glace, born in France, comes in an unusual glass and is served while being melted little by little. We also recommend pairing the sweets with a glass of wine or champagne.

You can spend lunch time with your pets

The original green curry at lunch time and the main dish using "Shinshu premium beef" at dinner time are well-received. Be sure to check out the blackboard with the day's recommendations.

Cafe de VERANDA

A peaceful time to forget the hustle and bustle of the Old Light Ginza

The cafe is located in "Church Street Karuizawa," almost in the center of the Old Karuizawa Ginza Street (Kyu-Karu Ginza). It opened in 2017 with the aim of creating a place where tourists, vacation home visitors, and locals can casually gather, mingle with nature, and have fun. The interior is decorated with antique furniture, creating a peaceful atmosphere. Located across the street from "St. Paul's Catholic Church in Karuizawa," guests can hear the sound of bells ringing at 12:00 p.m. during lunch time and at weddings.

Gallery Cafe Naranoki

Terrace seating where you can spend time with your pet

Surrounded by trees, the gallery café "Naranoki" offers a sense of the four seasons. The roof of the spacious terrace has a top light that lets in gentle light. The terrace, where you can spend café time with your pets, has spaced apart tables so that you can spend time with your pets without hesitation. The leash-keepers are also a welcome relief.

The home-roasted coffee, which is hand-picked to select the coffee beans, has a clean taste without any cloying flavors. The coffee is served with luo han guo (luo han guo) instead of sugar, which brings out a gentle sweetness when added to the coffee.

Specialty French toast is available for lunch or as a sweet treat.

A popular menu item is the French toast. It is a waffle-shaped French toast that is crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It is cooked in a waffle mold without butter for a healthy finish. Another recommended item on the lunch menu is "Curry (with seasonal pickles).

Inside the store, there is a gallery of "shadow boxes," art works that create a three-dimensional effect by stacking several identical pictures on top of each other, and the owner holds classes in the back of the store as a teacher.
The café has a large wood-burning stove that envelops you in a gentle warmth even during the cold season. There is also a grand piano, and live jazz sessions are held on an irregular basis.

A hideaway cafe with a comfortable atmosphere unique to Karuizawa

This café is tucked away beside the Yukawa Furusato Park. You can relax and forget about the passing of time while listening to the murmuring of the river and the birdsong. The café boasts of its special coffee and juices made from apples, peaches, grapes, and other fruits grown in Shinshu. The café just opened last year and does not have a large menu, but it is already attracting a growing number of repeat customers due to its good location. Looking through the trees with the binoculars provided at the cafe, you can see forest fairies made of twigs happily playing on the branches, and the owner's playful spirit is also soothing.

Settle down on the terrace and enjoy a cup of aromatic coffee.

Pets are only allowed on the terrace, but these seats are the restaurant's best choice. From spring through fall, maple leaves cover the terrace, and rocking in a rocking chair for two is a comfortable time. Feel the breeze of Karuizawa with your dog.
All coffee is hand-roasted. The owner wants to keep the coffee fresh, so only beans that have been roasted for less than a week are used. Each cup of coffee is brewed with these beans in a single-hole dripper and is rich in aroma. There are always five to six varieties of coffee available, including Guatemalan and Tanzanian.
