The playgrounds are interesting not only for children but also for adults, as they stimulate their curiosity by allowing them to move their bodies with all their might in a rich natural environment and acquire knowledge through enjoyable play. Here are seven recommended spots in Ito and Izu that will satisfy both parents and children.
1Izu Guranparu Park
Izu Guranparu Park is located along Route 135 in the center of Izu Kogen. On the expansive grounds, which are the size of five Tokyo domes, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of attractions. The three most popular attractions are "KAiZOKU," Japan's first ship-shaped three-dimensional maze made of wooden box-shaped blocks, "Zip Line - Wind KAZE," where visitors slide down a 400-meter round-trip wire rope from 6 meters above the ground using pulleys, and "Water Balloon," where visitors walk on water in a giant transparent balloon. Water Balloon" where you walk on water in a giant transparent balloon. It is also an excellent playground where visitors can move around and play in a variety of ways, from 14 types of "athletic equipment" to the recently popular "Segway" and "VR".
Don't miss the romantic "Grand Illumination" with shining illuminations!
Izu Guranparu Koen" is a day and night changing park, which transforms into an Experience-type illumination park "Grand Illumi" at night. Grand Illumi - 4th Season" will start in mid-October 2018, with a spectacular world of illumination using 6 million LED bulbs over a vast area. Visitors will feel as if they have wandered into another dimension with the 100-meter "Tunnel of Dreams" that looks like a rainbow and the "Sweets Lanterns," a line of giant lanterns that resemble sweets. And what you should definitely try is "Night Rainbow," which is a slide down through the illumination, and "Zip Line - Kaze KAZE," which is a slide over the illumination. Both attractions are even more thrilling than during the day.

6Izu Peninsula Geopark Museum Georia
Georia, located at the entrance to Shuzenji hot spring, is a fun place to learn about the formation of the Izu Peninsula. Located on the Philippine Sea Plate, Izu is the only peninsula in Honshu. It became a peninsula when submarine volcanoes and volcanic islands that were once located far to the south gradually moved northward with continued volcanic activity and collided with Honshu as the plate moved. The Izu Peninsula, which has continued to the present day due to subsequent volcanic activity and crustal movement, was recognized as a UNESCO World Geopark in recognition of the international value of its geology and landforms. The purpose of a Geopark is to protect natural and cultural resources for the region while utilizing them for education and tourism, and to promote sustainable development. Georia was established in 2016 as the base of the Izu Peninsula Geopark. Visitors can learn the grand story of Izu from the prehistoric continental transition to the present culture of the Izu Peninsula in an easy-to-understand manner through exhibits and videos.
Learn about the Izu Peninsula by "seeing" and "touching" the animals
Entering the entrance, visitors first go to the "Origin of Izu Peninsula Theater," where they can watch a 7-minute presentation on the origins of Izu. Then, to learn more about the history of the land of Izu, we recommend the "Projection Mapping" in the center of the museum. The images are projected on a three-dimensional model of the Izu Peninsula, showing the formation of the peninsula from its origins as an undersea volcanic group about 20 million years ago, as well as the geological sites scattered throughout the Izu Peninsula Geopark. Other exhibits worth seeing include an exhibition corner where visitors can touch rocks collected in various parts of Izu, and a model that reproduces and observes the mechanism of river erosion. Also popular at the store are original tenugui hand towels with designs of Izu's geological formations, related books, and other items unique to the Izu Peninsula Geopark.
