Stop by on your way to sightseeing in Izu/Ito area! Recommended cafes
The rich natural environment of Izu and Ito, including the "Eight Views of Ito" and other beautiful landscapes, can be fully enjoyed at cafes. House cafes scattered in the forest or on a hill overlooking the sea offer the perfect place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. In the downtown area of Ito, you can also visit long-established stores that boast of their famous sweets. Whether in nature or in town, here are some recommended cafes that you may want to stop by on your way to sightseeing.
1cafe TATI sweets
About a 10-minute walk from Ito Station, cafe TATI sweets faces "Wisteria Plaza," a green space lined with wisteria trellises along the Matsukawa walking path. The owner is from the long-established French restaurant "Maxime de Paris" in Ginza, and his wife is a female pastry chef. The store is named after Jacques Tati, a French film director who created works such as "My Uncle," of which the owner is a fan. Many of the sundries and menu items in the store also have a somewhat French flavor.
Cute sweet menu that even adults can enjoy
Two types of lunch are available: a plate using local ingredients (1.188 yen) and a homemade sandwich set (950 yen), both of which are healthy and full of vegetables. All come with a small baked good and a drink. The concept of the store, written on the menu, is "an adult café where sweets are the main attraction. As the menu states, the secret of the shop's popularity is its extensive sweets menu. Among them, we recommend the "Parfait Tachi," which bears the store's name. It is a luxurious parfait with homemade sponge cake, cookies, and finely chopped rusks, topped with maple nut and vanilla ice cream, and a cute bear with dull eyes. The bear actually appears on other menu items and saucers. It is also used for the whole cake, which is available only by reservation, so it is recommended to take it out and enjoy it.

2sweet house wakaba
The store has been located in the "Sky Dome Kinema Dori Shopping Street" in the center of Ito hot spring for 70 years, and some regular customers have been coming here for three generations, making it a long-established coffee shop loved by locals as a place for relaxation. The shop offers a variety of homemade sweets, including soft ice cream, sundaes, pancakes, cream anmitsu, and pudding, that are both nostalgic and comforting. The soft-serve ice cream, which has maintained its traditional taste since its launch in 1959, is made in a large kettle, and the store's rule is to make only enough for the day's needs. The ice cream is made with love and care, with the flavor adjusted according to the season, from light in summer to slightly sweet in winter.
The light meal menu also features a variety of popular flavors, including pizza toast with tomato sauce simmered for six hours and mixed sandwiches accented with handmade mayonnaise, all with homemade sauces and ingredients. You will find the taste of a classic "coffee shop" that will make you feel nostalgic and give you a warm and cheerful feeling.
Inside the store, pictures by Watase Seizo decorate the walls and a telephone booth still remains, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a coffee shop in the heyday of trendy dramas, which further enhances the mood.

3Le Fillage
The bakery-cafe is located in a villa area at the end of a road that leads into the forest from the cherry blossom trees that stretch from Izu Kogen Station. The bakery, filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread, offers more than 80 kinds of freshly baked breads, ranging from meal-type breads such as natural yeast French bread, sour German bread, and salty croissants to sweet breads and side dish breads.
Lunch, available from 11:00 to 14:00, consists of three types each of plates and sandwiches. The plate comes with a main meat dish made with seasonal ingredients, a vegetable dish, a quiche, and four kinds of bread. Enjoying lunch in the warmth of the wood-filled restaurant is great, but if the weather is nice, be sure to sit on the terrace where the sun shines through the trees. Enjoying lunch in the open air with a pleasant highland breeze is a truly exceptional experience. You will feel your heart and soul filled with the luxury of the moment.

4Tea room Akai-Yane
A 10-minute walk up the hill from Kawana Station on the Izu Kyuko Line brings you to the red roof of the restaurant, just like its name. This long-established café has been loved by locals for about 40 years. Almost every seat has an ocean view, and you can relax and enjoy your meal or tea with a beautiful, almost picturesque view of Kawana Port, the Sagami Sea, and Hatsushima Island beyond.
The most popular menu item is a pizza with a choice of 30 different toppings, ranging from standard items such as salami and ham to more unusual items such as shrimp, wakame seaweed, and other marine products. The texture of the crispy, thin, crispy dough and the thick, melted cheese are irresistible and unmistakable. We also recommend the Kashmiri pizza topped with Kashmiri curry, a recipe from the long-established curry restaurant "Delhi" in Ueno, Tokyo.

5Ichikawa Tea Factory Yunohana store
Ichikawa Tea Factory was established in 1919. The Ichikawa Tea Factory is a pioneer in the production of "Guricha (Tamaryokucha)," a famous tea in Ito, Izu, and you can enjoy its famous teas and sweets made from the teas at the Ichikawa Tea Factory Yunohana Shop. Located along Yunohana-dori, a street leading from Ito Station, the store on the first floor and the cafe on the second floor are always crowded with locals and tourists.
The interior of "Cafe Saya" is a Japanese-style space with a Japanese-style dining table and sunken hearth, and its comfortable atmosphere makes it easy to linger in the cafe for a long time. In such a relaxing café, be sure to try the food menu using famous teas. We recommend the raw tea pasta with sugar beet kneaded into it. The chewy texture of the noodles is irresistible, and the aroma of the tea leaves is even more appetizing.
Full meal menu using guricha (green tea)
Other menu items include a choice of four types of tea, including guricha, as well as chazuke (rice with tea leaves) and chasoba (buckwheat noodles). The sweets are also full of famous teas, and all of them have a superb taste that conveys the sweetness and flavor of the tea. In particular, the "Guricha Hotcakes," which are baked with Guricha kneaded into the batter and served with a variety of toppings such as soft-serve ice cream, red bean paste, and berry sauce, are popular among women for their photogenic appearance. The tea served at the end of the meal is also delicious, and you will be very satisfied with the three famous teas.
