The best dinner spots in Gotanda, one of the best gourmet towns in Tokyo!
Known as a business district lined with office buildings, the Gotanda area is also rich in restaurants where you can enjoy a relaxing dinner and drinks. There is a wide variety of restaurants, from famous Japanese hamburger steak restaurants to counter yakitori restaurants, seafood izakaya (Japanese-style pubs), and Spanish bars. From popular restaurants where reservations are a must, to hole-in-the-wall restaurants that are adult hideouts, here are some recommended restaurants for dinner that you can choose according to your mood of the day.

Enjoy tuna in a different way!
Hidden away on the second floor of a building commonly known as "Gotanda Hills," this restaurant offers creative Japanese cuisine and sake pairings.
The signature dish is the "Three Kinds of Southern Tuna Sashimi". Two slices each of Ootoro, Chutoro, and Akamimi are served, one with Wasabi soy sauce and the other with olive oil and salt. The olive oil used is made from mature Chilean olives, squeezed without pressurizing, and is characterized by its mild and fruity aroma. This olive oil enhances the flavor and sweetness of the tuna, giving it a new taste sensation.
Seasonal earthenware pot rice dishes that deliver the best taste of the season are also appealing!
The theme of this restaurant is "Taste the Seasons. The "Seasonal Earthen Pot Rice" is also a dish to look out for. For fall, it is "Earthen pot rice with Fuji salmon and salmon roe. The earthenware pot rice dish, which uses the highest quality ingredients according to the season, shows the care with which the ingredients are selected.
We recommend pairing each dish with a variety of sake, as there are always 40 different types of sake available to complement the flavors of the meal. What is surprising is that you can enjoy the same taste as these high-end Japanese restaurants at Gotanda prices. It is truly a hidden gem in Gotanda that is too good not to share with others.
2Toriguchi
Yakitori restaurant where you can enjoy a course of 7 skewers or more at the counter.
This luxurious yakitori restaurant opened in 2018. Only three omakase courses are available, with a choice of seven skewers, nine skewers, or the Kiwami course, which includes a meal. The chicken is "Shingen-dori" from Yamanashi Prefecture. The chicken is grilled over charcoal to bring out its strong flavor. The popular shio tsukune is an elaborate dish made by grinding thigh meat in three different sizes (large, medium, and small) and combining them together. Grilled with a strong salt, it has a unique texture and deep flavor. When visiting for the first time, we recommend starting with a course of seven skewers.
After the course is over, you can order additional skewers for each part of the chicken.
The course starts with Jidori chicken tataki, then moves on to kashiwa (thigh meat), tsukune (chicken meat), liver, and finishes with tebasaki (chicken wing), which is the standard. Natural wine and sake pairings are available to accompany the course. After completing the course of seven or nine skewers, customers can order additional portions of each part of the meat, such as hatsu, seseri, and sori, for 350 to 450 yen per skewer. The top-of-the-line Goku Course includes jidori chicken tataki and yakitori, as well as rice bowls and dessert. There are three choices of rice bowls: Soboro-don, oyako-don, and sansho tantanmen. You can also order an eel bowl for an additional charge.
3Grill F
The secret demi-glace sauce is the key to the flavor of the famous hashed rice.
Opened in 1950 as a French restaurant. Currently, the third generation has taken over the restaurant and it is gaining popularity as a Western-style restaurant.
The demi-glace sauce, which has been continuously added since the first generation, is the lifeblood of the restaurant. At first glance, the sauce may look light, but its glossy jet-black shine reveals the depth of its flavor. The "Hayashi Rice" made with this sauce has a unique flavor that balances richness and bitterness, and is ordered by 70 to 80% of the customers. It is a dish that has been loved for many years, and many cultural figures have frequented the restaurant.
Chef's crab croquettes in a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere
As one of the oldest Western-style restaurants in the city, the restaurant offers a number of popular menu items in addition to hashed rice. The "crab croquette" is one of the chef's specialties, and is characterized by the white sauce with a hint of garlic. To enhance the flavor, fine breadcrumbs are used for the batter. This impressive dish is also packed with crab flavor.

This is a very famous restaurant that is always a candidate when talking about dinner in Gotanda. The famous 100% Kuroge Wagyu hamburger steak is made by mincing not only commonly used lean cuts of beef such as ude, shank, and neck, but also sirloin and filet that are served as steaks. This hamburger is truly a hamburger that allows you to enjoy the "flavor of a whole head of black wagyu beef". Four types are available, including fried egg, cheese, and Japanese style, and toppings such as garlic chips are also available. Combo menus with Kuroge Wagyu steaks such as sirloin and filet are also available for families and friends to share.

The top-quality meat we offer is carefully selected from all over Japan for each part of the beef by our craftsmen with a keen eye for quality. It is a privilege of being directly managed by a meat wholesaler to be able to purchase the highest quality meat from each region. It is reasonably priced, and although it is red meat, it is tender and you can enjoy the deep flavor unique to red meat.
If you don't stretch too far, the unit price for dinner is around 4,000 to 6,000 yen. It is a luxury to enjoy the highest quality Japanese black beef at this price.

5Spain Bar Girona
Experience the real Spain with the seafood paella prepared in a rich broth!
A bar where you can enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine at a reasonable price. This popular restaurant has been in Gotanda for over 20 years. Among the various dishes on the menu, from tapas (small plates) to salads and meat dishes, the "seafood paella" is what regular customers swear by. Shrimp, crab, and Thai heads are roasted at low temperatures, ground, and carefully strained before being cooked in a broth that is sure to captivate you with its rich seafood flavor. The shrimp and mussels topped with toppings are also individually cooked to perfection, demonstrating the owner-chef's delicate skills.
Authentic tapas such as Jamon Serrano and pickled sardines
The signature paella takes about 30 minutes to be served after ordering, so it is better to order a few items from the recommended menu first and wait while sipping wine. Popular tapas and salads include "Jamon Serrano (Spanish cured ham)," "Vinegared sardines," and "Octopus Galician salad. For meat dishes, the "Aburi-yaki (grilled pork shoulder)" is a staple of regular customers. Finish off your meal with a seafood paella and order a glass of sweet sherry afterwards. Ask the floor Staff/staff members and they will be happy to suggest a drink to go with your meal.
