Otsuka is also known as a "music town" due to its culture of geisha performing arts, and is characterized by its many live music clubs. Another major attraction is the warm, old-fashioned shopping district. The warm, old-fashioned shopping street has a nostalgic atmosphere, with the lively sound of the Arakawa Toden Line running in the background.

Tempura Set Meal" 950 yen (lunch) includes 5 tempura items such as shrimp, vegetables, and white fish. Includes two small bowls of cooked food, rice, miso soup, and fruit.
A Japanese-style restaurant run by a friendly couple that has been in business for more than 50 years. Located in the back alley of the "Sun Mall Otsuka Shopping Street" at the south exit of Otsuka Station, the restaurant serves oden set menus and rice bowls for lunch.
The main menu item is the tempura set meal. The tempura is served as it is deep-fried, one by one, so the tempura is served at its best when it is freshly deep-fried," says the restaurant's growing fan base. In addition to standard tempura set menus such as "Tempura Yasai Set Meal" and "Tempura Fish Set Meal," there are also seasonal menus using mushrooms and summer vegetables, with about five different kinds available every day.
The owner's ingenuity in hospitality is evident in the six types of homemade dipping salts available, including yuzu salt, yukari salt, green tea salt, and ume shichimi (seven spices).

A specialty store opened by a famous collector, where you can find all kinds of penguin goods.

The owner, a well-known collector of penguin goods, opened this store specializing in penguin goods. The store is crammed with penguin goods ranging from sweets to novelties to handmade works by artists, and you can sometimes find hard-to-find dead stocks and one-of-a-kind items.
The shop's original character, "Ukulele Penguin," is also well known for its adorable goods, including T-shirts, eco bags, stationery goods, lucky charms such as "Maneki Penguin," and items made in collaboration with creators and specialty stores. The postcards featuring scenes of Otsuka and its surroundings, modeled on the store owner's penguin sculpture "Gin-no-suke," are also recommended as souvenirs of your trip.

Trivia about the Toden while touring the downtown area
The Toden Arakawa Line, nicknamed the "Tokyo Sakura Tram. It matches the atmosphere of the city and is very photogenic!
The Toden Arakawa Line, which runs through the city, is the only streetcar in Tokyo that has been in service for over 100 years. This tour will guide you to trivia and view spots of the streetcar Arakawa Line, which has long been a favorite in the city. The tour also introduces the history of the quaint town of Otsuka.

Toden Monaka, a classic souvenir of a Toden trip, has a great taste and package!
Toden Monaka" (toden monaka): 185 yen per car. There are a total of seven types of outer boxes depicting successive train bodies. A box with a design of the Arakawa depot containing 10 cars costs 1,960 yen.
A long-established Japanese confectionery established in 1957. Among the more than 30 varieties of wagashi available at any given time, the "Toden Monaka" in the shape of a Toden Arakawa Line car body has been a popular item among locals and tourists since 1977. The skin is darkly browned to enhance the flavor, and the texture is savory and crispy. The bean paste inside is made from the highest quality azuki beans produced in Hokkaido and cooked with white sweet red beans to give it a mild taste. The trinity of flavors is exceptional.
In addition, the "Eiichi Ou Strolling Monaka" named after Shibusawa Eiichi, who lived in Asukayama along the Tokyo Metropolitan Electric Railway line, is also a perfect souvenir. There are two types, tsubu-an (sweet bean paste) and sakura-an (sweet cherry blossom paste), priced at 250 yen each.

The "Ache hamburger steak" is decorated with a design of a streetcar using paprika powder. Lunch is 1,100 yen on weekdays, 1,300 yen on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
The store specializes in hand-kneaded hamburgers made from 100% beef. The beef is purchased in chunks, with the inner thigh meat having a rich flavor and the shoulder meat having a light fatty taste, and is coarsely ground in-house to bring out the natural flavor of the meat.
The signature dish is the "Assche hamburger steak," a hamburger steak wrapped in mashed potatoes. The potato coats the meat and steams it, giving it a light and fluffy texture, and the demi-glace sauce, which takes three days to prepare, is a perfect match. 180 grams of meat alone is a generous portion, but even women can easily finish it off.
There are always about 5 kinds of hamburgers available. Lunch comes with a salad and soup bar, rice, or bread for a reasonable price.

During café hours, the chef, a former pastry chef, is known for his homemade sweets. Among them, the "Banana Cheesecake" topped with caramelized bananas is the most popular with its moist and smooth texture. As for drinks, dessert items such as "Strawberry Milk" and other dessert items go well with the special coffee made with beans from the famous roaster "ALLPRESS ESPRESSO".
A portion of the menu is also available for takeout, making it a useful spot to accompany a stroll or to purchase sweets as souvenirs.
