This restaurant has a nostalgic atmosphere as if you were visiting a house deep in the mountains. The warmth of the wood is felt inside the restaurant, which attracts many people of all ages and genders, and the restaurant is always bustling with people lining up to get in.
The "Aged Mochi Sumashi" is recommended at this popular restaurant. Three crispy fried homemade rice cakes are served in a broth simmered with daikon radish. The dish also includes grated daikon radish, green onion, and dried bonito flakes. The simple taste of the rice cake is very delicious, and the texture changes as time goes by. Children will surely be delighted with the well-stretched rice cakes, which are made in the store every day.
A restaurant with a friendly Staff/staff member who welcomes even the most energetic children.

2TOYOTSUNE HONTEN
The "Gokujo Tendon" with crispy batter and thick sauce will keep you coming back for more!
As a popular restaurant with a long line, this restaurant attracts not only locals but also customers from outside the prefecture and abroad. Be prepared to wait in line.
The specialty is the tempura, which is fried so hard you can hear the zaku-zaku sound. The "Tokujo-Tendon" (extra large bowl of tempura rice topped with tempura shrimp and vegetables) is served on top of a bowl of rice and is served with the original sweet and salty soy sauce sauce that the owner of the restaurant insisted on. The rice soaked in the sauce is a true gem of bliss that is hard to stop eating. The miso soup made with local "Sakamoto Chohei Miso" from Beppu is a perfect balance to tighten the sweet taste in your mouth.
Another specialty is sashimi prepared by skilled chefs!
For those with children, we recommend the upstairs seating area. Chairs and cutlery for children are provided, so you can spend your time in peace.
In addition to its famous tempura, the restaurant is known for its fresh fish from the Bungo Channel. The sashimi menu is abundant, and the "Ryukyu-don", an Oita specialty, features a sesame base that is rarely found elsewhere. The well-seasoned sashimi is served with hot spring eggs.
If you can't wait a long time, takeout is available and recommended, which can be purchased relatively quickly.

3Kaisen Izutsu
Enjoy "Kaisendon," a bowl of rice topped with a variety of seasonal seafood from Oita
This is a popular restaurant with a line out the door at lunch time. The "Kaisen-don" is a popular dish that allows you to enjoy the freshest sashimi. About 10 kinds of seasonal ingredients, mainly seafood from Oita Prefecture, are crammed onto a bed of vinegared rice.
Although the selection varies slightly depending on the season, the star of the dish is always natural Sekiburi yellowtail. The tight flesh has elasticity and a unique flavor. Spanish mackerel and bonito are also available at certain times of the year. The dish is served with an original blend of slightly sweet soy sauce that was developed to go well with sashimi.
Share the wide variety of seafood dishes.
The first floor is a counter and small seating area, while the second floor is like someone's room, where you take off your shoes and sit on cushions. Manga and magazines are also lined up.
As the restaurant started out as a fresh fish restaurant, the variety, freshness, and taste of the seafood are outstanding. In addition to sashimi other than kaisendon, there is a wide variety of fried, tempura, simmered, and grilled dishes on the menu. Each dish is generous in volume, so sharing with family members is recommended. There are also a variety of side dishes that children will enjoy, such as plump fried shrimp, bold seafood fried rice, and fried potatoes.

4Kappo Heike
Enjoy a blissful time with fresh fish swimming before your eyes.
Kappo serves fresh local seafood. The popular menu item is the Kaisen-ju Gozen. The sea bream is landed at the port of Kamae and immediately released into the fish pond, giving it an irresistibly firm texture. A total of 10 kinds of sashimi, including thick slices of sashimi, sea urchin, and scallops, are served together.
We recommend dissolving brand eggs "Ran-O" and wasabi in the restaurant's original "sea bream soy sauce" and pouring it over the rice. The rich yolk and the gentle taste of the soy sauce entwine with the seafood, deepening its flavor. The other dishes include shrimp and seasonal vegetable tempura, homemade nukazuke pickles, and dessert, allowing you to enjoy a variety of flavors in this gozen.
Enjoy the taste of Oita in the comfort of a private Japanese-style room.
The restaurant is surrounded by trees and has a purely Japanese appearance. As you walk through the stone pavement into the restaurant, you will see a large fish pond in the center of the restaurant with fish swimming around in it. Seating is in private rooms with tatami mats or sunken kotatsu. Enjoy your meal without worrying about being seen.
The "Oita Local Gozen," which can be ordered for two or more people, allows you to enjoy Oita's specialties such as sashimi of horse mackerel and mackerel, toriten, dango soup, and ryukyu all at once. The "Special Set Meal" is available only for lunch from Monday through Friday, and the main dish changes daily. Sushi, ochazuke (rice with green tea), and rice bowls are popular among children.

5Restaurant Ribbon
A restaurant where the whole family can smile at the generous portions and great taste.
This long-established Western-style restaurant has many local fans. The famous "Toriten" is characterized by its crispy batter and tender, juicy meat. The dipping sauce, which is a combination of Oita Prefecture soy sauce and soup stock made from dried bonito flakes and kelp, is superb and light on the palate.
Another specialty, "Ankake Yakisoba" (fried noodles with starchy sauce), is served in a heaping pile on a plate larger than a person's face. You can choose between thin noodles that stay crispy until the end, or thick noodles that are crispy at first but become firm and elastic over time. With plenty of vegetables and a chicken broth-based sauce, the dish is lighter than you might imagine.
Every dish is prepared with care, attention to detail, and heart.
The restaurant's interior has a retro, old-fashioned, quaint, and relaxed atmosphere. There is a spacious tatami room, perfect for customers with children.
What is most pleasing is the wide variety of more than 70 menu items for a wide range of ages. The owner is proud of his demi-glace sauce, which is made by simmering beef bones and a large amount of vegetables for seven days. The "Children's Plate" is recommended for children 10 years old and younger. The "children's lunch" is hearty and sumptuous, and since there is no age limit, it is useful for those who want a lighter meal.
