2Beppu Ogura
Melt in the mystical blue water
An inn where you can enjoy 6 private baths. Easily accessible from the Beppu Interchange, this popular spot has many fans among travelers from all over Japan as well as locals. Both the hot springs and the interior of the inn have a calm Japanese appearance, and once you pass through the noren curtain at the entrance, an air of tranquility pervades.
The outdoor hot spring "Teruyu," where you can enjoy the beautiful blue water, is especially popular. It is said that by collecting and entangling hot spring water and hot spring steam at the same time, the components in the water react and make it appear blue. The color changes from milky white, milky blue, or clear blue depending on the day.

The metasilicic acid content, which is said to be highly effective for beautiful skin, is one of the highest in Japan. The water feels smooth and comfortable, making you want to soak in it forever. The source of the water is hot at 95°C, but when it is poured into the bathtub, the temperature is around 66°C. The temperature can be adjusted by pouring the right amount of water. The temperature is adjusted by the amount of hot water poured into the bathtub.

4Onishi no Yu
Soak in the forest while soaking in the hot water
This hot spring is located next to "Onishihobojigoku," one of the Beppu Jigoku Meguri (Hell Tour) sites. A little off the road and surrounded by nature, it is a quiet environment. Whenever the wind blows, the branches and leaves sway, the rustling of the trees and the sound of the hot water pouring down the drain resonate pleasantly.
The indoor bathtub has a high ceiling and a spacious bathtub with plenty of wood. A large glass window overlooks a green garden, creating a sense of openness even while inside. Open the door and step outside, and you will be greeted by an outdoor hot spring made of rocks. Climb the stairs to the second floor, where you will find the bath with a view. You will feel a special sensation as if you are floating in the forest.
Family baths healed by the greenery and sunlight
The temperature of the water, which is reputed to be mild and soft, is said to be changed depending on the bathtub. The temperature of the open-air baths is 41-43°C, while the indoor baths are 40°C or slightly below, which is lukewarm for Beppu. This means that even if you take a long soak, you will not easily get burned by the hot water, making it a hot spring in which you can soak for a long time.
The five family baths are hot springs with pleasant light. You can enjoy the hot spring baths in a private space. Yubu" and "Tsurumi" are stone bathtubs that have existed since the opening. The "Sakura," "Sazanka," and "Azalea" baths are planted with plants that bloom in season, just as their names suggest.

5Takegawara Hot Spring
A symbol of Beppu with its stately appearance
This historic hot spring was built in 1879. It is said that the bathhouse had a bamboo-roofed roof when it was built, and was named "Takegawara Hot Spring" because the later reconstruction had a tiled roof. The current building, built in 1938, is a registered tangible cultural property and is recognized as a Heritage of Industrial Modernization.
The bathroom is as wide as a hall, with high ceilings and large windows. The style of the bathhouse is as follows: down the stairs from the changing room, there is a washing area and a bathtub. The source of the spring water is 48-49°C, and the temperature of the bathtub is set at around 43°C, making it a hot bath.
Immerse yourself in a nostalgic time
Not only the bathroom, but also the waiting room has a retro atmosphere. There is a wooden floor, a large old clock, wooden benches, and a place to sit and relax. It is a place where both locals and tourists can relax and unwind.
In addition to the regular baths, visitors can also experience a "sand bath. After changing into a yukata (Japanese bathrobe) and lying down, Staff/staff members pour sand heated by the hot spring over your body. After about 15 minutes of being buried in the sand, you will start to sweat profusely. After soaking in a bath specially designed for sand bathing and removing the sand, you will feel refreshed. You will feel as if everything is flowing out of your body from the inside.

The owner, who used to run a flower shop, opened the bathhouse in 2010 with the idea of "having hot springs in a comfortable greenhouse in the sun. Each bathroom is covered with greenery, and visitors can bathe while admiring the fresh and vibrant plants in this unique hot spring. All rooms are family baths, and there are nine different types.

The steaming pots of hell are also popular. A place where local fans gather.
