Ishigaki Port Terminal, located at Ishigaki Port in Ishigaki City, Okinawa, is a passenger terminal for the outlying islands route that high-speed boats ply between TaketomiIsland, Kuroshima, Hatoma Island, Iriomote Island, Kohamajima, and Hateruma Island. Two companies, Yaeyama Kanko Ferry and An-ei Kanko, operate passenger boats connecting the islands, and the terminal is known as "the gateway to Yaeyama. Inside the terminal, there are souvenir stores, a small cafeteria, tour companies, and a planetarium to support and make your trip to Yaeyama enjoyable. With popular photo spots and sweets, it is a place where visitors can spend a fulfilling time even if they visit for sightseeing purposes.

Ishigaki Port Remote Islands Terminal," opened in 2007, is a place where many people visit as a Direction base connecting the islands of Yaeyama. High-speed boats, which are used not only by tourists but also by local residents as a means of transportation for their daily life and business, are a big part of supporting the life in Yaeyama. It is called "the gateway to Yaeyama" and is the terminal you must pass through if you go to the remote islands.
From Ishigaki Port Terminal, it takes about 10 minutes to the nearest island, TaketomiIsland, about 25 minutes to Kohamajima and Kuroshima, about 45 minutes to Iriomote Island and Hatoma Island, and about an hour to the farthest island, Hateruma Island.

Parking is available at the terminal, and rental cars are also readily available. For those going to the remote islands for a day trip, we recommend the coin lockers in the terminal or luggage storage service at tour companies and shipping companies. Inside the terminal, there is a free Wi-Fi "ishigaki-free-wifi" which is conveniently available in Ishigaki City.
At one part of the terminal leading to the pier, there is a bronze statue of Gushiken Youtaka, the former professional boxing world champion who is the pride of Yaeyama, and it is a popular photo spot that sometimes people line up to have their picture taken. Why not take a picture to make memories?

In the terminal, there are "Yaeyama Kanko Ferry" and "An-ei Kanko" that operate regular boats to each remote island. Tickets for the regular ferry are the same price regardless of which shipping company you purchase them from. Note that only Yasuei Kanko handles liner service to Hateruma Island.
In addition, "Ishigaki Island Travel Center", "Hirata Kanko", and "Iriomotejima Sightseeing Center", which propose and sell tours, also sell boarding tickets for each shipping company. Recently, it is also possible to reserve tickets in advance through Internet reservation sites. Some of them offer 5-10% discount, so take advantage of it.

In addition to selling boat tickets, Hirata Kanko proposes and sells attractive tours unique to Yaeyama, such as "Segway Tour in Ishigaki Island Banna no Mori," "Indigo Dyeing and Minsa Hand Weaving Experience," and "Kami no Ojigen," a tour that won the Excellence Award and the Best View Award in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Water Village Travel Contest 2020. Tour participants can also have their luggage stored for free.
Next to the tour counter, there is a sales corner where you can find a wide variety of sustainable products, including "HydroFlask Yaeyama Limited Bottle," which is designed for SDGs travel. It is very convenient for shopping in your spare time.

Terra Marija" for 750 yen (M size shake + soft serve ice cream). The "Mariya Shake" comes in three sizes: S 300 yen, M 450 yen, and G 700 yen.

Nanapito Honpo, a small store inside the terminal, is popular among both travelers and locals, with its narrow storefront filled with bento boxes, drinks, and snacks. The shop offers a variety of local delicacies such as Okinawa's soul food "Po Tamamusubi" and "Black Jushi" (curry-flavored rice wrapped in squid-ink fish paste) to fill your stomach.
Especially, "Mariya Shake" is a must-try drink when you come to Ishigaki Port Terminal. The shake is made with fresh milk from Mariya Dairy's own dairy farm in Ishigaki Island, and the rich flavor and refreshing taste is impressive. The free topping of mango, passion, and other sauces of your choice is also a nice service. Terramariya," a shake topped with soft-serve ice cream, is also available.

There are about 5 restaurants in the terminal. At Dining Area Sommelier, a cozy space with tables that can seat about 7 to 8 people, you will be served by a cheerful mother and her daughter.
The "Soki Soba" is a simple yet satisfying dish, with a refreshing soba broth made from chicken bones, kelp, onions, dried shiitake mushrooms, and ginger, topped with soki cooked in a sweet and spicy broth using Yaeyama brown sugar, seasonal green vegetables, and fish cakes, a specialty of Yaeyama. Other dishes include "Tebichi," "Jimame Tofu," "Iyachi" (traditional rice cake-like food made of glutinous rice mixed with millet and azuki beans), and "Cut Pineapple. Pineapple juice" made from pineapples grown in Ishigaki Island, which is sweet and has no sourness, is exquisite.

There are 4 stores in the terminal where you can buy souvenirs. Tomoru Shop" located on the right toward the sea side has a wide variety of souvenirs including Yaeyama's charms, boxed lunches, snacks, and drinks. Behind the cash register, there is a counter space where you can have a light meal and enjoy Yaeyama soba, hot coffee, etc. casually.
In the store, there are also assorted Ishigaki beef gift sets and fresh fruits such as mangoes and pineapples, which are unique to Yaeyama. Ice cream and frozen fruits using local ingredients are also available, so it is a great place to stop by while waiting for the ship.

Ishigaki Port Terminal also has Ishigaki Island's first planetarium, the southernmost tilting projection planetarium Property in Japan, which was established in 2019.
In addition to the screenings where the museum's Staff/staff members carefully explain the starry sky of Yaeyama where 84 out of 88 constellations and 21 1st magnitude stars can be seen, there are also powerful 3D video screenings such as "WE ARE STARS" by NSC creative from England, which is an activity for rainy or cloudy days. This is recommended for activities on rainy or cloudy days. All films have a running time of about 30 minutes, so you can spend your time waiting for the ship in a meaningful way.

Ishigaki Port Terminal" is the Direction for Yaeyama sightseeing, but it is a waste of time to visit only for the boat ride. If you go there, please allow enough time to enjoy gourmet food, look for souvenirs, and observe the starry night sky. Note that soft-serve ice cream and ice cream cannot be brought on board, so we recommend that you check the ship's schedule carefully before making your purchase.
