Akane Kumada
Sengokuhara Master

He is the only Staff/staff member at Hoshino Resorts KAI Sengokuhara who is a local of Sengokuhara. Although she likes to express herself, she is now awakened to the satisfaction of being an art evangelist, and she is struggling to create a system to connect artists, Guest/customers, and Staff/staff members every day.

Hoshino Resorts KAI Sengokuhara
The best places and times to see cherry blossoms in Hakone in spring.

All rooms at this hot spring ryokan with outdoor hot spring baths are located in the magnificent nature of the Sengokuhara Plateau at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. I consider art not as something to be appreciated but as something to be expressed, and I will use various techniques and materials to express myself.

Local Guide FAQ

What do you recommend in the Hakone area (places, experiences, food)?

Gora Park is a place where men and women of all ages can enjoy strolling through the botanical gardens and experiencing the many types of experiences available in the Property. Glass blowing, sandblasting, ceramics, tonbo dama (glass beads), and tea ceremony experiences are also available.

Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.

The "Panmimi" Restaurant in Miyagino is located in a little alley. The restaurant has a nostalgic atmosphere, and the highlight is "Pan Gratin," a dish of gratin on a 13-centimeter-high loaf of bread.

Watanabe Bakery in Miyanoshita has "hot spring stew bread," a childhood favorite. It is a dish that I sometimes like to eat because it has beef stew inside a hollowed-out loaf of bread.

Where did you travel to last year and with whom?

My family (parents and sister) went to Nishi-Izu. It was fun to have an experience of gold-collecting at the Doi Gold Mine, where we could compete with each other to see how much gold we could get.

What do you do on your days off?

I like to appreciate art, so I visit art museums in the Hakone area and sometimes travel to Tokyo. I also like to see the scenery from a bird's eye view, so I go to high elevation places such as observatories.

 Coffee
Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?

I always take my camera with me. I want to capture even the most casual of moments, so I take 200-300 pictures every time I go out. I often take pictures of people and distant scenery.
