Fireworks Festival in Ito in 2025! Schedule, Location and Recommendations

Ito City is full of attractions such as scenic spots represented by Ito's eight scenic views, hot springs with plenty of hot water, and fresh seafood. A major summer event is the Ito Onsen Sea Fireworks Festival, held from late July to the end of August. The fireworks display features fireworks shot simultaneously from the sea, fireworks in collaboration with music, and the rare Tezutsu fireworks, all of which beautifully light up the night sky of Ito.

Also known as "Ito Summer Theater," the Ito Hot Spring Fireworks Festival is a summer tradition in Ito. Ito Hot Spring "Yume Hanabi" is the first of its kind. For a total of nine days, the night sky of Ito is decorated with large fireworks.
In a short period of 20 to 30 minutes, large starmines and rapid-fire fireworks are shot one after another in quick succession at close range, creating a powerful display.
The main venue is "Ito Orange Beach," but the entire Ito coast can be seen, so if you want to enjoy the fireworks in a relaxed atmosphere, we recommend "Nagisa Park" located right next door. Sitting on the grass and watching the powerful fireworks display right in front of you is truly a dreamlike experience.

This summer festival is held in the Usami area, about 25 minutes from Atami on the JR Ito Line. One of the main attractions of the festival is the fireworks display at sea. The approximately 1,000 fireworks shot into the night sky are reflected in the jet-black sea, making it a very romantic event. The entire 1km-long Usami Coast is a perfect viewing spot. This is a hidden gem of a fireworks display that is not well known outside of the local community, so you can watch the fireworks at your leisure without the crowds.
On the day of the event, the street in front of Usami Station will be a pedestrian paradise. Local stores and gourmet food stands will be lined up, and various events such as dancing and singing will be held.

 Aerial Niagara
Aerial Niagara" fireworks are shot off from 5 different locations in the sea, and they are very powerful!

William Adams (Anjin Miura) built Japan's first Western-style sailing ship in Ito during the Edo period. The Anjin Festival, Izu's largest event, is held in honor of his achievements. In addition to the fireworks display on each day, the festival is usually enlivened by various other events such as lantern floating and taiko drum competitions.
The finale of the festival is the "Anjin Matsuri Umi no Hanabi Daikai" (Anjin Festival Fireworks Display at the Sea). About 10,000 fireworks are launched one after another from five different locations on the sea in an hour, including a rapid-fire starmine and a music special starmine, providing a powerful display of fireworks. The 500-meter-long "Niagara in the air" instantly turns the night sky and the surface of the sea into a silver color, which is truly impressive. Special reserved seats for spectators are also popular.

The fireworks display is held at the port of Yahata, about a 15-minute walk from Izukogen Station on the Izukyu Line. The "yanmo" is a wild yam that grows wild all over Ito and Izu Kogen. Cookies, pound cakes, and other sweets made from the red berries, which are harvested in early summer, are a local specialty.
Fireworks are launched for about 30 minutes. Music dynamically competes with the starmine, and approximately 2,000 fireworks are launched without a pause, coloring the sky and the sea in a spectacular manner. The close proximity of the launch site to the bleachers makes it seem as if the fireworks are shooting overhead. It is recommended to lay out a sheet on the beach and watch the fireworks from the comfort of your own bed.

The "Chopstick Festival" was started to offer up the chopsticks used during the year at hot spring ryokans in Ito. The finale of the various events, including the lighting ceremony of the chopstick memorial tower, is the fireworks display.
The highlight of the festival is the rare "Tezutsu" fireworks display. A person holds a 1-meter-long bamboo cylinder filled with gunpowder, ignites it, and makes it blow up in the air. The sight of about 50 handheld fireworks going off right in front of the spectators to the sound of Japanese drums is so majestic that it will leave you speechless. The diagonal starmine fireworks launched from the beach, which reflect on the surface of the water, are also very atmospheric.
