The "Yumin Hook" departs from the pier at "Roadside Station Ito Marintown," located along Route 135 in the suburbs of Ito City. The boat is a glass boat with glass windows on the sides of its three-floor undersea chamber. While the boat moves through the shallows on departure and return, you can observe fish swimming freely in the sea.
Once out to sea, head upstairs to admire the surrounding scenery: the first-floor cabins and second-floor deck offer a panoramic view of the beautiful natural scenery, including Squirt Rock, Omuroyama, and Orange Beach, known as one of Izu's "Eight Views of Izu. A 5-minute drive on Route 135 from Kawazu Station. This is one of Japan's largest reptile and amphibian zoos facing the sea. The zoo exhibits about 2,000 reptiles and amphibians of 400 species, including chameleons, snakes, crocodiles, and tortoises, among many other reptiles and amphibians kept in the zoo. The park also boasts of breeding and exhibiting many rare species, such as the Hiroobifid Iguana, called the "most beautiful iguana in the world," and the Lesser Antilles Iguana, called the "ultimate iguana.

Visitors can touch a tortoise walking down the aisle, or hold a lizard, snake, or crocodile in their hands. The photo shoot with a small child on the shell of a giant elephant turtle is also very popular. Many visitors have commented that the iZoo is surprisingly cute once they touch it, even if they were reluctant to do so at first. There are many attractions that can only be discovered after a visit.

Local Guide Comment
There are many reptiles that I have never seen before that intrigue me. A shared admission ticket with the sister museum, KawaZoo, is recommended.

Georia, located at the entrance to Shuzenji hot spring, is a fun place to learn about the formation of the Izu Peninsula. Located on the Philippine Sea Plate, Izu is the only peninsula in Honshu. It became a peninsula when submarine volcanoes and volcanic islands that were once located far to the south gradually moved northward with continued volcanic activity and collided with Honshu as the plate moved. The Izu Peninsula, which has continued to the present day due to subsequent volcanic activity and crustal movement, was recognized as a UNESCO World Geopark in recognition of the international value of its geology and landforms. The purpose of a Geopark is to protect natural and cultural resources for the region while utilizing them for education and tourism, and to promote sustainable development. Georia was established in 2016 as the base of the Izu Peninsula Geopark. Visitors can learn the grand story of Izu from the prehistoric continental transition to the present culture of the Izu Peninsula in an easy-to-understand manner through exhibits and videos.

Learn about the Izu Peninsula by "seeing" and "touching" the animals

Entering the entrance, visitors first go to the "Origin of Izu Peninsula Theater," where they can watch a 7-minute presentation on the origins of Izu. Then, to learn more about the history of the land of Izu, we recommend the "Projection Mapping" in the center of the museum. The images are projected on a three-dimensional model of the Izu Peninsula, showing the formation of the peninsula from its origins as an undersea volcanic group about 20 million years ago, as well as the geological sites scattered throughout the Izu Peninsula Geopark. Other exhibits worth seeing include an exhibition corner where visitors can touch rocks collected in various parts of Izu, and a model that reproduces and observes the mechanism of river erosion. Also popular at the store are original tenugui hand towels with designs of Izu's geological formations, related books, and other items unique to the Izu Peninsula Geopark.

Visitors can enjoy hands-on experience of the origins and topography of the Izu Peninsula through projection mapping and models. It is also attractive that it is designed in an easy-to-understand manner.
