The Tokaikan, a tourist and cultural Property, is located along the Matsukawa River in the center of the city and has been welcoming Guest/customers as one of Ito's representative hot spring ryokans for about 70 years. In July 2001, the property was reborn as a tourist property representing Ito's hot springs in order to preserve its valuable wooden architecture for future generations.

The building, which retains the architectural style of the early Showa period, was built by the founder, a lumber merchant, using high-grade timber such as cypress, ebony, and purple ebony without hesitation. In addition, craftsmen competed with each other to create the most beautiful and beautifully crafted entrance, Guest rooms, corridors, and hallways. The design of the rooms and the hallways shows the high level of craftsmanship of the time.

Two bathhouses, one large and one small, are still in existence. The Public hot spring, with its circular bathtub and tiled floors and walls, has a nostalgic atmosphere. The private spring water pours from the mouth of the Chinese lion sculpture. The alkaline simple spring water, which is gentle to the skin, will heal your body. This bathhouse is open only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, and visitors can enjoy bathing while feeling the hot spring atmosphere of a long-established ryokan that represents Ito in the Showa period.

Located a 10-minute walk from Izukogen Station on the Izu Kyuko Line, the brick building is nestled in a grove of trees in the motif of an English mansion. Its picture-book-like space enhances the excitement of meeting teddy bears.

There is a theory that the teddy bear was created in 1903 in honor of Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, who was known by the nickname "Teddy. The Izu Teddy Bear Museum, which has collected teddy bears from all over the world, even the president himself, displays about 1,000 precious teddy bears at any given time, ranging from antique bears from the time of their birth to artist bears created by teddy bear artists from around the world. Looking at each adorable figure, you will naturally smile. It is such a soothing spot.

The numerous teddy bears displayed in the museum vary in face, hair, body shape, and clothing depending on the era, offering a glimpse into the culture of the time. Of note is "Teddy Girl," an antique bear from Steiff, Germany, which sold for the highest price ever paid for a teddy bear. The Teddy Girl is the beloved teddy bear of the late Colonel Bob Henderson, a world-renowned bear collector, and even now, more than 100 years later, she still welcomes visitors with her lovable appearance.

After enjoying the exhibition, visitors can take a break with homemade cakes and tea in the tea room. For souvenirs, visit the museum store, which has a collection of teddy bears and teddy bear goods. In addition to Japanese-made teddy bears and artist bears, original sweets are also popular.

A 5-minute drive from Kawana Station on the Izu Kyuko Line. The Kawana Stained Glass Museum is located along the coastline. The museum exhibits about 300 pieces of stained glass, mainly those created in England in the 1800s. Among them, the majestic works of Charles Eamer Kemp, who boasted of his fame as a stained glass artist in England at that time, are a must-see. The stands that cast a soft light in various places in the museum are works by contemporary artist Richard Lee. The works of Richard Lee, a contemporary artist, are interesting because of their different styles from antique stained glass, and visitors can compare different works from different periods.

The antique stained glass windows are set in a luxurious pavilion reminiscent of a "manor house" where the aristocrats of medieval Europe lived. The space surrounded by colorful stained glass windows is so divine that visitors will feel refreshed just by being there.
Another highlight of the museum is the performances held in the church and chapel. At St. Michel's Church inside the museum, an antique pipe organ plays live for 15 minutes every hour from 10:00 to 17:00. In St. Marys Chapel, an antique music box plays its clear sound from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. All of these events are held daily, and on weekends, mini-concerts are held with a variety of instruments. Visitors can enjoy the collaboration of light and sound in both rainy and sunny days, each with its own unique flavor.

The small studio, located in a wooded area about 10 minutes by car from Izu-Kogen Station on the Izu Kyuko Line, is self-built by the owner and Staff/staff members. About 10,000 people visit the studio each year to experience pottery making in the warmth of the handmade space.
At Hokkekyoan, two types of pottery experiences are offered under the guidance of an instructor: hand-bi neru pottery and electric rokuro (potter's wheel). In the hand-binne potter's wheel, visitors can make up to two pieces of tableware, such as a teacup and a plate, using a hand potter's wheel. On the other hand, with the electric potter's wheel, you can use 2.5 kg of clay as much as you like without time limit. They can make as many pieces as they like, with a large number of visitors making as many as eight pieces. In addition, clay blending and glaze development are done in the workshop, and only at Hokkekyoan can you choose unique pottery styles such as "Izu Shirahama-yaki" and "Kawazu Sakura-yaki," which are inspired by the scenery and specialties of Izu, certified as a business innovation by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The electric wheel spinning experience allows you to make many pieces of work, so you can see how you are improving.

At the studio, the pieces are fired using a unique firing technique called "extreme reduction oxidation-oshi," which has been certified as a business innovation by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. When the pieces arrive at home about three months later, the joy is doubled at the quality of the finished product. The more you use the pottery, the more you become attached to it.
The studio also has a cafe. After your pottery experience, you can enjoy homemade curry or stew. On a rainy day, why not enjoy time filled with "handmade" in a peaceful atmosphere?
