1Teppanyaki Aizuya
Authentic teppanyaki in a casual atmosphere
Teppanyaki Restaurant using carefully selected ingredients from the Aizu region. The restaurant's specialties include "dice steak" made from Japanese beef, which is popular for lunch, as well as "Aizu Jidori chicken" and "Fukushima beef" steaks, and the live performance of the chef grilling them in front of your eyes is a real delight. For garnishes and salads, seasonal vegetables delivered from contract farmers in the Aizu region are used. All dishes on the menu are simply seasoned, allowing you to enjoy the flavor of the ingredients themselves. A la carte dishes are also available in the evening, allowing those who want to snack while drinking to do so without hesitation.
Teppanyaki counter with fun performances
Originally started as a French restaurant, it was renovated into a Teppanyaki Restaurant in 2017. The chef himself visits the producers and examines the ingredients. As he encounters wonderful ingredients, his desire to "convey the producer's thoughts as well" grew stronger, and the restaurant was reborn in a style that allows him to talk with customers while cooking. The flambé and other performances that take place in the open kitchen are also worth seeing, and the sounds and aromas of the meat cooking heighten the anticipation. This is a restaurant where you can casually enjoy teppan-yaki, which has a high-class image.

Aizu Wakamatsu's beloved "Tofu Mochi" is now available at this location.
Tofu Mochi" is a local dish of the Minatomachi area of Aizu Wakamatsu City. The woman who is the grandson of the creator of this dish opened this teahouse in 2016 after the closing of the "Shimizu Chaya" tofu store where it is said to have originated.
Tofu mochi has been served on special occasions such as Obon, New Year's, weddings, funerals, etc. The dish consists of grated cotton (momen) tofu, soy sauce, soup stock, etc., added to a pan with oil, cooked over a flame, and served with rice cakes. The combination of the dashi broth-soaked tofu and the oil-soaked, smooth rice cake is an excellent match, and the simple taste is a welcome relief.

The freshly pounded rice cakes made in the store are exceptionally sticky and soft. Mochi with handmade sauce or red bean paste, such as Zunda Mochi, Walnut Mochi, and Anko Mochi, are also popular. It is recommended not only as a snack, but also for lunch.

5Hoshiban Picture Candle Store
Colorful traditional painted candles from the Aizu region
Founded in 1772, this store specializes in picture candles. The ninth generation of the shop's owner, who was an official craftsman of the Aizu domain in the Edo period, continues to preserve the traditional techniques of handmade and hand-painted candles. Picture candles are unique to the Tohoku and Hokushinetsu regions and originated in place of flowers offered at Buddhist altars during the snowy winters. Recently, Western flower designs such as sunflowers and lilies have been actively introduced, and they are also used for celebrations such as weddings, birthdays, New Year's, and festivals.
Experience painting your own one-of-a-kind picture candle
The owner and his family divide the work of making the various picture candles that line the restaurant. In a corner of the restaurant, there is a demonstration corner where visitors can observe the ninth generation of the family making picture candles. Visitors can also make their own original painted candles by making a reservation in advance for a group of two or more people to experience painting. 7Aizu no Utsuwa Koubou Suzuran
Stylish glassware with lacquer coating is available.
Located in front of the Nanokaicho Roman Deck Parking. The concept of the shop is to offer cute lacquer ware that can be used casually every day. All products are original designs handmade in the workshop. Using a unique technique, they have succeeded in applying lacquer coating to glass, creating a lineup of unique vessels. The store is colorfully laid out with glasses, cups, plates, chopsticks, sake cups, etc., making it exciting just to look around.
The secret of the popularity of Aizu lacquerware is that it has a texture not found in conventional Aizu lacquerware.
While vermilion and black are the standard colors for lacquerware, blue, orange, and other colorful shades are also available, which is a characteristic of the technique used to apply lacquer to glass. Cherry blossoms and navy blue, which are difficult to make with colored lacquer, also come in beautiful colors. Lame-filled products are also available, and their texture, which is not found in wooden Aizu lacquerware, is also appealing. Lacquerware may seem difficult to handle, but because it is made of glass, it can be washed with ordinary dishwashing detergent and is very durable. It is a fun place to spend time looking for your favorites, whether as gifts or for yourself.
