Gogetsume Lily
Veteran Tochigi girl

As a veteran Staff/staff member at Hoshino Resorts KAI Kinugawa, she is a role model. She is one of the few people from Tochigi, and her local knowledge is second to none. Whenever I have a problem or don't understand something, I can almost always solve it by asking Ms. Satsuki.

Local Guide FAQ

What do you recommend (places, experiences, food) in the Nikko and Kinugawa area?

Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park is located near Nikko Toshogu Shrine. As the retreat of the Taisho Emperor, the garden seen from the building is not only a wonderful example of the architecture of the Edo, Meiji, and Taisho eras, but is also a wonderful sight. The scenery, which changes with the seasons, can be enjoyed no matter how many times you visit.

Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.

From summer to autumn, I recommend a mountain stream called "Tokoname" along the Kirifuri River. It is a real hole-in-the-wall, and there is no well-maintained Parking. As the name suggests, the smooth surface of the rocks created by the river's current is a refreshing place to step into with bare feet. Bring a towel for wiping your feet.

Where did you travel to last year and with whom?

I traveled halfway around Japan by car on my own. After that, I went to Matsumoto in Nagano, Kanazawa and Kaga in Ishikawa, Osaka, Kagawa, and Kochi to visit friends. I was particularly impressed by the Naruto Strait Bridge between Honshu and Shikoku, and the whirlpools I saw for the first time were very powerful.

What do you do on your days off?

Driving. Often I just drive around with no real purpose. Recently, I often go to the Gunma area and drive through Ashio and Kinsei Pass. I also like to look for new local attractions at roadside stations.

Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?

Here is a bath set. Aimless driving brings new discoveries. Among the discoveries are hot springs. Be sure to bring one towel so that you can go in when you find it or feel like going in. Your body, tired from driving, will be refreshed on the way home.
