A sommelier man who loves Tsuchiura
He is an intellectual type of man who is a certified wine sommelier and a train map fanatic. He loves the Tsukuba and Tsuchiura areas where he spent his school days, and the opening of BEB Tsuchiura by Hoshino Resorts marks his long-awaited comeback to Ibaraki.

Local Guide FAQ
- What do you recommend in Tsuchiura/Tsukuba area?
He can enjoy the sea, mountains, lakes, and everything else in the prefecture. For the sea, I recommend the fish markets in Oarai and Nakaminato; for the mountains, hiking Mount Tsukuba; and for the lakes, I recommend the tsukudani, a tsukudani of white fish from Kasumigaura.
- Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.
Perhaps due to the abundance of agricultural and marine products, the quality of restaurants is also high, especially in Tsukuba City. We recommend an Italian restaurant called Trattoria Amici. The Neapolitan pizza is superb.
- What is your most memorable trip?
When I was working in Karuizawa, I traveled to Sri Lanka to visit the family home of a Sri Lankan colleague. I still cannot forget Sri Lankan gourmet food such as curry and tea, Buddhist temples, the beautiful sea, and the enthusiasm of the people.
- What do you do on your days off?
I like eating and drinking, so I look forward to cooking and drinking beer and wine.
- Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?
I can't think of anything in particular to bring. If I had to say, I would say to go hungry. Hunger is the best seasoning. I like to go to local restaurants I find on Google Maps after arriving at the destination without doing much preliminary research.
