2Asahi Falls
A 5-minute drive from Shuzenji Onsen, you will find Asahi Falls, a famous waterfall that represents Izu City. It is said that it was named this because it shines when it receives light from the front as the morning sun rises. With a drop of about 105 meters, the water flows down as if sliding over a six-tiered rock face. What is noteworthy is the rock face over which the waterfall flows. You can see a shape that looks as if stones were artificially stacked. This is the exposed cross-section of columnar joints, which are columnar cracks formed during the process of lava cooling and solidifying.
It is designated as the Izu Peninsula Geopark as a valuable site for understanding the formation of this land. As you proceed along the walking trail leading to the waterfall, you can not only witness the mysterious shapes created by nature up close, but also enjoy the beautiful scenery of the waterfall woven by the four seasons.

3Jogasaki Coast
Jogasaki Coast is a famous spot in Izu, located about a 40-minute walk from Izukyu-Kawatana Station. The cape was formed by lava that flowed into the sea when Mount Omuro erupted about 4,000 years ago, and was later eroded by waves over many years, creating a coastline of cliffs several dozen meters high. The complex, winding 9km coastline creates a beautiful and varied landscape. Despite being a famous tourist destination, its vastness means there are so many highlights that you cannot see them all in one visit, including hidden spots that can only be encountered under the right conditions.
Walking paths where you can encounter unknown, breathtaking views
At Jogasaki Coast, a 3km-long Picnic Course and a 6km-long Nature Research Trail are maintained, allowing you to enjoy a stroll through superb views. The most famous spots are the thrilling 48m-long, 23m-high Kadowaki Suspension Bridge and the Kadowaki Lighthouse, from which you can view the vast ocean from a nearby observation deck. Furthermore, if you continue along the walking trail, you will find the 60m-long Hashidate Suspension Bridge. There are fewer tourists here, so you can take your time to gaze at the beautiful ocean from the suspension bridge.
Other highlights include the natural pools of Oyodo and Koyodo, and the Tajima Waterfall, which only appears when the river volume is high. The more you walk, the more hidden, superb views will greet you.

4Wada Jurojin no Yu
Ito Onsen, which boasts one of the largest volumes of hot spring water in the country, is a historic hot spring resort said to have opened in the Heian period. In particular, the 'Wada no Yu,' 'Dekiyu,' and 'Shido no Yu,' known as the Three Baths of Ito, are said to have been gushing hot spring water since the early Edo period and have long been cherished as a place of healing.
The place where you can still enjoy that historic hot spring today is "Wada Jurojin no Yu," the successor to "Wada no Yu." This revered "famous hot spring," which was presented to the third shogun, Iemitsu, during the Edo period and is said to have cured his illness, is piped in from a nearby source. The "Dekiyu" and "Shido no Yu" springs, which have since dried up, are each enshrined in small shrines as the "Yuo Gongen" guardians of the hot springs. We recommend a tour of the "Ito Santo" (Ito's Three Famous Hot Springs) by soaking in "Wada Jurojin no Yu" and visiting the "Yuo Gongen."

5Komochi-yu (Yukawa Dai-ichi Yokujo)
Ito has approximately 722 hot spring outlets. Its abundant water volume is also utilized in the public bathhouses scattered throughout the hot spring town. "Komochi-yu (Yukawa Daiichi Yokujo)," located in the basement of a building facing the rotary right in front of JR Ito Station, is one such public bathhouse. This relaxing spot, frequented by locals, is also recommended for those who want to casually enjoy the famous waters of Ito Onsen.
"Komochi-yu (Yukawa Daiichi Yokujo)" has a simple layout consisting only of a changing room and a bathing area, and the bathtub is quite small, but it is always filled with fresh water thanks to the abundant supply piped directly from the source. The clear, colorless water has a smooth texture and is slightly hot. Even with a short visit, you can feel refreshed after your bath. Its convenience, such as being able to soak in a famous hot spring to relieve travel fatigue while waiting for your train, is also part of its appeal.
