During the day, the sun shines and the maximum temperature reaches over 15°C, but the minimum temperature is around 5°C. Since the temperature drops significantly in the morning and evening, it is a good idea to have a thick cardigan or down jacket ready.
Around Golden Week, the maximum temperature exceeds 18°C and the temperature rises. Tulips are in full bloom at Lake Yamanaka, and
moss phlox are in full bloom at Lake Motosu. However, even at this time of year, the wind blowing down from Mount Fuji can feel cold, so it is convenient to carry a hoodie or a light outer layer.

In June, hydrangeas bloom along the shores of Lake Kawaguchi, and roses reach full bloom at Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum. The average temperature is a comfortable 18.4°C. However, temperatures drop sharply when it rains, so be sure to carry a hoodie or similar layer with you.
July and August are lively months with lake leisure activities like bass fishing and camping, as well as fireworks festivals held at each lake. The average high temperature rises to around 23°C, but it feels cool and comfortable in the shade.
The best clothing is short sleeves with a light cardigan. If you are visiting tourist spots like the "Fugaku Wind Cave" or "Narusawa Ice Cave," where the temperature inside the caves is only about 3°C, make sure to bring a jacket.
The weather around Lake Kawaguchi from June to August is changeable and is also the period with the highest rainfall of the year. We recommend keeping rain gear on hand just in case.

The average temperature in September is a comfortable 20.2°C, making it a great time to enjoy an artistic autumn by visiting museums around the lake, but rain gear is essential as the amount of rain is comparable to the rainy season. From late September, there are many days when it feels chilly, so you should wear long pants with long-sleeved innerwear, and thick shirts or jackets.
When October arrives and the first snow on Mt. Fuji is observed, the temperature drops rapidly, with the average low falling to 9°C. In November, when the autumn leaves are at their best, the average high temperature is 15.3°C. Nighttime temperatures drop to near 3°C, and it gets cold enough that bonfires are lit at various autumn foliage spots that hold light-up events. You will be safe if you take cold-weather precautions down to your feet, such as thick innerwear, sweaters, coats, and boots.

About temperatures and clothing in winter (December–February) at Lake Kawaguchi (Fuji Five Lakes)

Around Lake Kawaguchi, where the cold intensifies significantly once December arrives, the average high temperature is around 9°C, but the average low drops to -2.8°C. The ground freezes, and snowfall increases. Also, there are many days with clear weather, and until March, you can clearly see the full view of Mount Fuji and the "inverted Fuji" reflected in the lake in the crisp, clear air.
In January and February, the average high temperature is about 6–8°C, and the average low is about -5°C, with some months being more than 7°C colder on average than Tokyo. While the severe cold continues, there are a variety of winter events, such as visiting for the first sunrise of the year over Mount Fuji and the "Saiko Ice Tree Festival," which are quite lively. When heading out, be sure to take thorough cold-weather precautions, such as wearing thick inner layers, sweaters, and down coats, as well as snow boots in preparation for snow. Accessories like scarves, earmuffs, gloves, hats, and pocket warmers are also necessary.
