There are many restaurants inside New Chitose Airport, but there are also many reputable and delicious restaurants scattered around the area. Ramen, soup curry, pork bowls, and various other local delicacies unique to Hokkaido are also available. Here are some recommended lunch restaurants that can be Directioned from the airport by car or by JR.
1Menya Rei
Michelin-recognized ramen restaurant
This is a locally famous ramen restaurant that won a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Hokkaido 2017. The most popular is the Shoyu. Pork bones, chicken bones, and seafood are simmered separately to create a rich broth. The noodles are medium-thick and frizzy, which go well with the thick soup. The topping is grated onion, which is dissolved in the soup as you eat it. The thick yet tender chashu pork is also very tasty. It is a unique dish that can only be enjoyed here.
Original taste you want to eat even if you have to wait in line
In addition to "Shoyu," "Shio," and "Miso" ramen, there is also "Tsukemen (Miso or Shoyu)" with a choice of 200g, 300g, or 400g noodles. Tsukemen" has thick, frizzy noodles, while "Shio" has thin, straight noodles.
The store is so popular that there is a long line at lunchtime, but this is proof that the taste is that good. It might be a good idea to visit at a later time. It is worth taking the trouble to stop by on your way to the restaurant.

Excellent spicy soup curry
Soup curry, which originated in Sapporo, is a light, soupy curry that differs from the thicker roux curry. It is served in a spicy broth that preserves the flavor of the ingredients, such as vegetables and meat.
Asian Bar Lamai is the Chitose branch of a soup curry restaurant that opened in Sapporo in 2003 and quickly became popular. In addition to "Yasai" and "Chicken," the restaurant offers eight types of soup curry, including "Udan" with two shrimp tempura and "Tafu Goreng" with deep-fried tofu added.
Dine in a resort-like atmosphere in Bali!
There are 10 levels of spiciness for the curry, which can be adjusted to your liking. For those who prefer spicier food, it is possible to increase the spiciness with fresh chili peppers for a real hot taste (from 50 yen). Rice is cooked with several spices and coconut milk, and is called "nasi kuning," a popular dish in Indonesia.
Another hidden favorite is "Soup Sapi Putas," a traditional Javanese soup. The rich beef-based broth is intertwined with a refreshing citrus acidity, creating a mysterious taste.

3Charcoal grilled pork bowl Kukai
Obihiro's famous pork bowl
Pork donburi is a bowl of rice topped with charbroiled pork and sweet and spicy sauce. It is a local dish of the Tokachi region, but there is also a famous restaurant in Eniwa City, a neighbor of Chitose City, called "Charcoal Grilled Pork Kukai," which was selected as a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Hokkaido in 2012 and 2017. The pork is carefully selected fresh pork from Hokkaido, and the rice is made from "Yumepirika" brown rice sent directly from farmers and milled in-house. We hope you will enjoy the savory, tender pork grilled to perfection and the refreshing sauce that goes well with the rice.
The restaurant is full as soon as it opens for lunch!
The menu consists only of charcoal-grilled pork bowls and soba noodles. The soba noodles are also highly reputed. The most frequently ordered dish is the "Kukai Set," which includes both the pork bowl and soba noodles. The set includes a pork bowl with half the amount of rice and 70% pork of the "Sumiyaki Pork Donburi Roast," so it can be eaten in one sitting.
There is also a large 1.4-kilogram "Bigiri Pork Donburi," which is also available. However, the restaurant is so crowded during the day that it fills up as soon as it opens, so we recommend that you try it outside of peak lunch hours or on Saturdays and Sundays.
