What do you recommend in the Tomamu area (locations, experiences, gourmet food)?: I recommend Yakiniku Hide, a yakiniku restaurant in Kamifurano Town located between Tomamu and OMO7 Asahikawa. It features a style where you grill fresh meat sourced directly from a butcher shop slowly over a charcoal brazier, and the Wagyu superior kalbi is especially delicious—I still can't forget that taste.

Please secretly tell us some hidden gems that only a local would know.: The ramen at Menya Rei, a ramen shop located about 15 minutes by car from New Chitose Airport, is exquisite. The soy sauce ramen with its thick pork bone and seafood broth is refreshing, and the stylish interior makes it a great place for female customers and families to visit. It is a famous and popular local spot, and it is not uncommon for them to close as soon as the soup runs out, so I recommend going early if you plan to visit. It is also perfect for when you have some free time before your flight.

Who did you travel with and where did you go last year?: I went on a family trip to Okinawa for the first time in a while for my sister's wedding. We went snorkeling at the Blue Cave at Cape Maeda early in the morning, and the sky-blue sea I saw there was exceptional. I have dived at many spots, but this one is especially recommended.

How do you spend your days off?: I spend my time driving with my wife and 2-year-old daughter. My hobby is watching baseball, so after I get home, I relax with a beer in one hand while watching my favorite Orix baseball games on TV.

Is there anything you always bring with you when you travel?: Whether traveling domestically or internationally, I always carry a laptop so I can look up fresh information at my destination. Basically, when I go on a trip, I often look things up locally and plan my schedule then.
