Hakone offers a wide range of sightseeing and leisure activities from Hakone-Yumoto to Moto-Hakone, Gora, and Sengokuhara. There are many gourmet spots in the surrounding area, where you can find a variety of delicious foods. We will introduce some of the best lunch spots where parents and children can enjoy a casual meal together, such as soba noodle restaurants with relaxing tatami rooms.
1Hakone Sushi
Proud of its conger eel sushi, even children will be captivated by the blissful taste!
Although located in Sengokuhara, surrounded by mountains, the restaurant is well known for its delicious sushi. Every morning, the owner personally scours Numazu Port to purchase the freshest, highest quality ingredients. The signature dish, conger eel sushi, has a soft and melting texture that is popular even among children. The restaurant carefully selects conger eel from famous areas such as Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture and Aichi Prefecture, and spends half a day from preparation to cooking. The sauce, which is made by boiling down the broth from the conger eel, soy sauce, and three-temperature sugar, has been added for more than 20 years since the establishment of the restaurant. The yuzu peel sprinkled on top is refreshingly fragrant.
Zashiki space is recommended for families.
Starting with the popular conger eel sushi, you can enjoy nigiri, sashimi, and daily recommended dishes such as "grilled turban shell with tsubo-yaki" and "simmered sea bream with kabuto (sea bream). The "Noritama," an assortment of two kanpomaki rolls and three pieces of egg rolls, is especially popular among children. In addition, five types of maki rolls and chirashi are available, and any food item they do not like can be replaced.
In addition to the counter seating, the restaurant is equipped with a small dining room and a private room that can accommodate up to eight people. Even those with young children can enjoy their meals without worrying about their surroundings.

2Tamura Ginkatsu-tei Main Branch
Original "tofu katsu-ni" is easy to eat and even children can finish it!
A popular restaurant in Gora with a long line of customers. The "Tofu Katsu-ni" (Tofu cutlet stew), a unique dish of our own invention, is made by breading and deep frying tofu with Japanese minced pork, then topping it with an egg in an earthenware pot with sweet and spicy sauce. The secret of its deliciousness lies in the "squeezed tofu" made of cotton (momen) tofu, which is specially ordered from a long-established tofu store in Gora. The batter is easy to mix with the tofu and the flavor of the soybeans is concentrated in the tofu, making it light and fluffy to the touch. It goes well with the dipping sauce made from mackerel stock and the sweetness of onions. Because it is fried in rice oil, the taste is light and refreshing, and even children can easily finish it despite its large volume.
If you are bringing children, go to the new wing where there is a small tatami room and a diaper changing table.
The restaurant is divided into a main annex and an annex that serves only "Tofu Katsu-ni Set Meal" and "Tofu Katsu-ni Gozen".
The new wing is built in the style of an old private house. The new building is built in the style of an old private house, and offers a wide variety of dishes including tofu cutlet stew, set meals such as pork cutlet and fried shrimp using special pork, and a la carte dishes such as yudofu (boiled tofu). The restaurant is also child-friendly, with a small area set aside from the table seating area to prevent voices from crossing each other, and a diaper-changing table in the washroom. Although it is a restaurant with a long queue, it is conveniently equipped with a call system by e-mail after reception.

3Hakone Karaage KARATTO
The key ingredient is herbs, which won a gold medal at a national competition for fried chicken.
This karaage specialty restaurant won the gold medal in the "9th Karaage Grand Prix East Japan Variety Category" sponsored by the Japan Karaage Association. The restaurant is proud of its fried chicken, which is marinated in four kinds of herbs and white wine and deep-fried slowly in low-temperature oil. The chicken is then slowly deep-fried in low-temperature oil. The unique flavor of the herbs and the plump texture of the chicken can be enjoyed, and it is served with cream cheese. The restaurant's most popular dish, "Karat Curry," is a chicken curry filled with mushrooms and topped with deep-fried vegetables and special fried tofu. It is a very filling dish.
Dogs are welcome in the restaurant full of warmth of wood.
The restaurant is located near the pirate ship pier in Moto Hakone and is a short walk from Lake Ashi. The natural taste of the interior matches the natural beauty of Hakone, making it a comfortable place for parents and children to spend a leisurely lunch time during a stroll. Another attraction is that all seats are dog-friendly.

4Kinuhiki no Sato
Udon noodles as thin as soba noodles and smooth as silk
This Japanese restaurant is located in the center of Moto Hakone. The famous "Kinugi Udon" is an original dish made from high-quality wheat flour, squeezed juice of Japanese black burdock root and roasted sesame seeds, and kneaded with Hakone's famous water. After repeated trial and error in pursuit of a smooth, silky texture, the noodles are made to be as thin as buckwheat noodles, yet firm. It is as thin as soba noodles, but has a strong texture, and goes well with the bonito-based, slightly sweet dipping sauce. It is available in four different menus, including "Kinuhiki Ten Seiro" with shrimp and vegetable tempura, "Kinuhiki Yuki-wari" with grated radish and kaiware greens, and fresh noodles can also be purchased as souvenirs.
We recommend a tatami room with a lake view of Lake Ashi.
For a side dish, we recommend the "Hitokuchi Inari Sushi. Served before the food, the inari sushi is a size that is easy for children to eat and is ideal for filling their stomachs while waiting for their udon noodles.
This restaurant stands right in front of Lake Ashinoko and has a great view of the lake. If you have children with you, the large hall on the second floor is spacious and easy to spend time in, and you can enjoy your meal while overlooking the lake with pirate ships coming and going.
