1Nikko Purin-tei "Nikko Purin
Pudding specialty store using milk and eggs produced in Tochigi Prefecture
Renovated from an old private house, this pudding specialty store is located along the Nikko Kaido road. The secret of the delicious taste is the rare Brown Swiss milk from "Osasa Farm" located in the Kirifuri Plateau in Nikko at an altitude of 1,300 meters. The eggs are also carefully selected and produced in Tochigi Prefecture, giving the pudding a rich, smooth taste that accentuates the quality of the ingredients. In addition to the six standard items, including the basic "Nikko Plin" and the "Otome Plin" with Tochigi strawberry sauce, there are also one or two seasonal flavors. There is also an eat-in space, and the "Half-Purin Soft" is popular, topped with an overflowing amount of smooth soft-serve ice cream.
Packaged with an adorable sleeping cat as a souvenir!
The adorable cat illustrations on the pudding jars, Japanese paper wrappers, and gift boxes are original and inspired by the "Sleeping Cat" of Nikko Toshogu Shrine. If you want to take it home, you can add a refrigerant for up to one hour free of charge. Even if you are walking around for a day for sightseeing, a cooling agent (for a fee) that lasts 3 to 9 hours in a cooling bag is available. Among Nikko's sweets, shaved ice from Shougetsu Gyoshitsu is unquestionably the most popular. At Shougetsu Hyokushitsu's main store, visitors come from far and wide, regardless of the season, to taste shaved ice made from natural ice directly managed by the icehouse.
Since the fourth generation became the head of the ice shop, Shougetsu Ice House has been evolving its shaved ice menu by developing original mitsu (honey) to complement the ice, and importing not only locally grown strawberries but also carefully selected premium melons and mangoes from all over the country.
The most popular menu item is one that uses an abundance of locally grown strawberries. One of the most popular items for those with a sweet tooth is the "Strawberry Chocolat Whip," a triple combination of chocolate whip, chocolate sauce, and fresh strawberry sauce. The light whip and delicate shaved ice melt in your mouth in the blink of an eye, and the fresh tartness of the strawberry sauce is just the right accent.
