Five attractive and unique souvenirs created by the climate of Iriomote Island
Iriomote Island is located 400 km southwest of Okinawa's main island. The island is also known as the "Galapagos of the East," with its pristine nature and the Iriomote wildcat, a protected species. Here we introduce five unique and attractive products from this powerful and energetic land.
1Tida Pana "Tida Pana accessories", Iriomote Island's treasures
Fascinated by the beauty of form created by nature and the passage of time
TidaPana" accessories are made from broken shells washed up on the shores of Iriomote Island and marine microplastics, which are regarded as a global problem, instead of using expensive stones and shells. Scale Rin," made from the scales of the ilabucher (sea bream), is a beautiful piece that makes the most of the texture of the material, allowing light to pass through the thin scales and sway lightly around the ear.
Other works include "Ribbon of Sand" (5,200 yen), which features an image of a ribbon of sand that flows smoothly and is accented with colorful marine microplastics, and "Fantasia (Utsushi)" (4,200 yen), which creates a new form by copying pieces of shells and corals on the beach and inverting the pattern to create a new shape. (4,200 yen), which is created by copying shells and coral fragments and inverting the patterns. TidaPana's accessories use 14-karat gold-filled metal fittings, which are considered to have relatively low allergic reactions.

These vessels look and feel generous and gentle to the touch. The glaze is also handmade using clay from Okinawa. The transparent glaze is made of slaked lime and rice husk ash, combined with feldspar from the southern part of the main island, and the black glaze is made of wood ash and manganese, a mineral found in the fields of the main island.

Colorful jam filled with the blessings of nature of Iriomote Island
Handmade jam using roselle cultivated without pesticides in their own fields. Roselle is a plant known as the raw material for hibiscus tea, and is characterized by its refreshing acidity and vivid red color. The red component is an anthocyanin pigment, a type of antioxidant polyphenol. It is expected to inhibit the production of active oxygen and cleanse the blood.
The high content of organic acids such as citric acid and malic acid gives it a refreshing sour taste. In addition to spreading it on toast as it is, you can enjoy brightly colored hibiscus tea by pouring hot water over it. It also goes well with yogurt and cheese.
