What do you recommend in the Nikko/Kinugawa area (places, experiences, gourmet food)?: I recommend Tamamo-koji in the Imaichi area. It is a narrow alley, but it is packed with wonderful Nikko spots, such as the cafe Nikko Coffee, a cute donut shop made from Nikko yuba okara, and a small flower shop.

Please secretly tell us some hidden gems that only a local would know.: Utagahama Parking Lot is about a 10-minute walk from Kai Nikko. It is a parking lot with good access to the British and Italian Embassy villas, and it offers a very beautiful view of Lake Chuzenji and Mount Nantai. In winter, the wind blows in, so you can see mystical scenery such as "spray ice," where tree trunks and branches are completely covered in ice, and large icicles.

Who did you travel with and where did you go last year?: I went to Ise Jingu with four female friends. We enjoyed two full days, not only visiting the shrine but also eating while walking and chatting. I love Thailand very much, so I also go to Thailand alone on a regular basis.

How do you spend your days off?: I often go to bookstores. I enjoy looking at the titles on the spines of books on the shelves and buying books that catch my eye based on the title. I can spend hours looking at them.

Is there anything you always bring with you when you travel?: Whether traveling domestically or internationally, I go with just one backpack. I like thinking about how to reduce my luggage and how to pack it when I am packing. Because I have so little luggage, my friends who travel with me are always surprised.
