Hoshino Resorts KAI Yufuin
Recommended Cherry Blossom Spots in Yufuin and Beppu Area, Oita Prefecture, 2025 Edition

Hoshino Resorts KAI Yufuin is located in Yufuin hot springs in Oita Prefecture, which boasts one of the largest number and volume of hot springs in Japan.
The inn, built as if watched over by Mt. Yufudake, overlooks a landscape of terraced rice paddies, which are also known as Japan's original landscape. The hot spring resort offers guests the opportunity to relax and enjoy the seasonal colors of the terraced rice paddies and be healed by the hot spring water.

Local Guide FAQ

What do you recommend (places, experiences, food) in the area?

Tsukahara Hot Spring, located about 20 minutes by car from Yufuin Station, is recommended for its hot springs! Known as one of the three best medicinal hot springs in Japan, Tsukahara Hot Spring has acidic water rich in iron and aluminum ions, and is effective in relieving fatigue, neuralgia, and sensitivity to cold. The crater tour is my favorite part of the tour. The view of the crater, with its plumes of steam rising out of the crater, is a sight that can only be seen in a hot spring prefecture! It is a place where you can feel "I've come to Oita! You can feel "I've come to Oita!

Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.

The Miyazono Crossing is located near the parking lot of Yufuin Station. The best time to visit is in spring from March to April, when you can enjoy the beautiful contrast of the clear blue sky, pink cherry blossoms in full bloom, bright yellow rape blossoms, and the red Kudai Main Line running through the sky! Depending on the time of day, the Yufuin limited express train "Yufuin no Mori" and the cruise train "Nanatsuboshi in Kyushu" may pass by, making it a great place for train lovers as well!

Tell us about your most memorable trip, with whom and where you went!

This is my graduation trip to Turkey! A friend of mine was studying abroad in Turkey, so I went to see her. First time in Europe, first time flying alone, first time in a language and culture... It was a week full of firsts, but I remember feeling as if I had stepped into a painting or a photograph, with beautiful scenery spread out before my eyes the whole time. What left a particularly strong impression on me was seeing the ruins of Ephesus, which I had learned about in my world history class. I was moved to find myself standing in a place I had only seen in textbooks.

What do you do on your days off?

I refresh myself by going out and eating delicious food and seeing beautiful scenery! I love traveling so much that when I travel out of the prefecture, I make a travel bookmark that summarizes when and where to visit in order to enjoy the area to the fullest!

Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?

I bought this SLR camera when I started working. I can take beautiful pictures with my cell phone camera, but I feel that the image quality is better with an SLR and the memories of the trip are reflected more vividly!
