Michikusa no Tatsujin FAQ
- How did you get into this genre?
My job has often required me to research local food and chains. Someone once said, "To know is to love," and I think it's true.
- What are the points that ordinary people don't notice but are interesting here? What are some of the points that people usually don't notice?
Sometimes, unexpected restaurants are local chains.
For example, people in Tokyo do not know that Hidakaya and Fuji Soba are local chains. For example, people in Tokyo do not know that Hidakaya and Fuji Soba are local chains, and that stores such as "the world's second best melon bread ice cream" from Hokuriku, which once became a national chain, are now back to being a local chain.
- Actually, I'm also a "XXX" fanatic!
I like cup noodles and love local cup noodles. I secretly enjoy coming across local cup noodles at supermarkets in my travels, seeing the distribution of "Kin-chan Noodles" and discovering localized versions of major companies such as Toyo Suisan.
- What is your "unforgettable travel destination" and why?
It's a nearby place, but it's "Mt. Tsukuba. Tsukuba when I was in my first year of high school, riding my mama-chari without gear shifting from home.
I remember that in 1997, there were just so many "Hotspur" convenience stores in Ibaraki that I was in awe. Looking back, it was a good time before convenience stores were "massively concentrated" into three major convenience stores.
- Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?
Camera. It is indispensable for capturing memories of a place or a gourmet meal, etc. in a more beautiful way. At work, I use a medium-format (large-format) camera, which has an extraordinarily large sensor size that affects image quality. I usually carry a compact APS-C camera with a smaller sensor size.
