A popular café with a full lunch menu that you can stop by while strolling around the Kinugawa hot spring area.
Popular cafes are a must-stop during a leisurely stroll through Kinugawa Onsen Hot Spring Town, whether you are looking for souvenirs or enjoying the footbaths. There is a wide variety of cafes where you can enjoy specialty lunches that even gourmets frequent and sweets that are the talk of the town on SNS. Here are four cafes that we have carefully selected.
1Café Salon de Thé OKA
Located in the heart of Kinugawa's hot spring district, Café Salon de Thé OKA has a mature atmosphere that differs from the image of a hot spring resort. The sophisticated space is comfortable and loved by tourists and locals alike.
The popular lunch menu item is the "Tochigi Wagyu Otawara Hamburger Lunch" using coarsely ground Tochigi Wagyu beef.
The hamburger made from rare Otawara beef is plump and juicy with a mild sweetness of meat, and the demi-glace sauce is a wonderful match.
The lunch set includes Nikko Kirifuri Kogen beef curry lunch and a pasta lunch with a choice of four types of pasta.
The restaurant's interior is decorated with stained glass and Meissen tableware, making it a feast for the eyes no matter where you dine, at the counter or at a table.
All of the tableware is luxurious, and is made from Meissen and Royal Copenhagen. You can enjoy your food, cakes, and coffee served on the precious tableware that the owner has collected over the years.
The deep aroma of freshly ground coffee and homemade cakes during tea time, which starts at 2:30 p.m., are highly recommended.

The "Pantoe-style SL Burger," created to commemorate the opening of SL Taiki that connects Imaichi Station and Kinugawa hot spring station, is made with "Nikko HIMITSU pork" sandwiched in a charcoal-filled black bun for a great impact. 10 servings per day are limited.

Hachiya Baumkuchen Studio is popular for its "Rokku Baum," which expresses the beauty of Kinugawa's valleys.
It is a hard baumkuchen with a lumpy shape and a crispy outside and a moist inside.
The baumkuchen is made with local eggs from Nikko, rare Calpis Co. fermented butter (one packet of butter is made from 40 bottles of Calpis), and flour produced in the northern Kanto region. Hachiya Baum Strawberry," which uses Tochiotomates produced in Tochigi Prefecture, and the winter-only "Hachiya Baum Winter Chocolat" are baked with great care.
The glass-walled storefront allows visitors to watch the baking of the baumkuchen, and the craftsmanship of the bakers, who watch the thickness of the layers and the heat level, is a must-see.
Stick-shaped rokku baumkuchen and baumkuchen in original packages commemorating the opening of SL Taiki are also popular.
Originally a souvenir store, the store was remodeled and opened as a baumkuchen workshop. The packaging design is based on paper cutouts designed by ceramic artist Shitara.

The first floor houses the baumkuchen workshop and store, and the second floor houses the restaurant "Restoran Hachiya.

Another popular menu item is the "Nikko natural shaved ice" made with "Hyo-ya Tokujiro IV. Every January, the restaurant participates in the cutting of natural ice, and the ice brought back is carefully shaved to provide the ultimate shaved ice all year round. Inside the restaurant where live music is also performed
Established in 1982, the restaurant has a bar counter and table seating.
At night, the restaurant becomes a dining bar and offers a full menu of drinks, from Nikko's local beers to non-alcoholic cocktails. We recommend the "on the rocks" drink made with natural ice from Nikko. A wide variety of pasta and meat dishes are available.
