Local Guide FAQ
- What do you recommend in the Ito area (places, experiences, food)?
We recommend the tasteful Tokaikan in Ito, located along the streets of Matsukawa. This wooden structure was a popular hot spring inn in the early Showa period and has been reborn as a Property for tourism in order to preserve its traditional Japanese architectural beauty for future generations. The building is very popular among tourists. There are also historical materials related to Anjin Miura, from whom Hoshino Resorts KAI Anjin got its name, and of course visitors to Hoshino Resorts KAI Anjin should definitely stop by as he is a well-known figure in the Ito area.
- Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.
The white bean jam cream anmitsu is served at "Dokokosho," a sweet shop located quietly on the Izu Kogen Plateau. The owner of this store has been involved in the flour milling industry for most of his life, including wholesaling flour to the nation's leading long-established Japanese confectionery shops. The shiratama (white rice balls), which are kneaded one by one to order, are exquisite and the chewy texture will be unforgettable.
- Where did you travel to last year and with whom?
My friends and I have been to California Disneyland, Bali, and other foreign countries. If I had two days off, I would go to Hot spring ryokans in Hakone, Izu, and Nasu Kogen areas for a healing holiday. I also toured Hoshino Resorts such as Aomoriya by HoshINOYA Karuizawa so that I could meet up with my classmates from all over Japan.
- What do you do on your days off?
When the weather is nice, I walk or run along the Orange Beach, sometimes sitting and watching the sunset or starry sky while being healed by the sound of the waves. I also like to look for good restaurants, so I often go to explore new ones.
- Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?
I take my camera with me. I always take a memorable picture and enjoy looking back on it. I have yet to get my hands on a SLR camera, so I am planning to buy one before my next trip so I can use it.
