Camellia-loving Dr. Izu
He loves Izu. When asked to talk about sightseeing in Izu, he is as knowledgeable as a guide and can talk for a long time. Staff/staff members have learned a lot about the charms of Izu thanks to him.
He is also so fascinated with camellias that he is known as the "Camellia Doctor. With his bright and fresh smile, he makes everyone around him happy.

Local Guide FAQ
- What do you recommend in the Ito area (places, experiences, food)?
Jogasaki Coast is one of Ito's eight scenic spots. Ito's landmark Mt. Omuro, and since the beach was formed by an eruption 4,000 years ago, there is little erosion, so you can see the bare nature of the beach. The pothole, a natural work of art, is a must-see.
- Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.
I really don't want to tell you about this, but Tomido Hot Spring is the closest hot spring to Tomido Station in Ito City. It is a hidden hot spring known only to the locals, with a strong alkalinity of PH 9.5, which is rare in Ito, and no heating or water added at all. It is a hidden hot spring known only to locals, and of course is not listed in any guidebooks.
Despite the outstanding quality of the hot spring, which is comparable to Kannon Hot Spring in Shimoda, known for its ultra-beautiful skin, tourists seldom visit and locals rarely use the hot spring, so you can often have the luxury of having the hot spring all to yourself. In addition to the quality of the springs, the panoramic view of Izu Oshima and moonlight bathing while viewing the moonlit road on a full moon make it easy to visit on days when the moon is beautiful. The construction is simple and free of anything unnecessary, and there is no better retreat spot to reset your body and mind.
- Where did you travel to last year and with whom?
We plan and host sightseeing fieldwork in Izu, and every month Staff/staff members who work in the Izu area travel there in harmony. Last year we offered monthly Izu Attraction Rediscovery Tours to the east, west, south, and north, and our motto is "Learn from the pros. It is addictive to be able to contact local nature guides and geopark guides and be taken into the deep world of indigenous culture and traditions that cannot be experienced through amateur sightseeing.
- What do you do on your days off?
Relaxing at home with my family wife, dog, and cat. Since we live in a place with rich nature and little traffic, the cats have recently started to follow us when we walk the dog. Since my wife is organic oriented, we usually have lunch at a natural vegetarian restaurant in the Izu area. Thanks to her, we are able to stay healthy every day.
- Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?
When sightseeing in Izu, I read "Walking in the Mountains and Sea of Izu" and "Welcome to the Adventurous Peninsula of Izu! and "The Izu Peninsula Tour Guidebook (now out of print)" are a must-have.
