Hoshino Resorts KAI Nagato: About an hour's drive from Shin-Yamaguchi Station. Nagato Yumoto Hot Spring is the oldest hot spring in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and has been in operation for about 600 years. It is known as a famous hot spring that was often visited by feudal lords during the Edo period. Kai Hoshino Resorts KAI Nagato, located in the center of the hot spring resort, opened in March 2020. All Guest rooms are "Nagato Gosai no Ma" (five-color room). Traditional Yamaguchi Prefecture crafts such as Tokuchi washi paper, Hagi ware, Hagi glass, and Ouchi lacquerware will add color to your stay. For meals, guests can enjoy abundant seasonal ingredients such as squid and other seafood, vegetables, and fruits that are well-known in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Akebono Café, facing the river, sells dorayaki and other delicacies made with yuzukichi, a taste of Yamaguchi. A stroll along the clear Onshin River with a dorayaki in hand is also recommended.

What places in the Nagato area do you recommend?: I love the ocean so much that I recommend ZERO CAFE and Kakunoshima sightseeing to my friends as a set. It is a place where you can relax and enjoy the sound of the rippling waves of the sea, perfect for a drive on a sunny day.

Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.: We recommend Hagi Castle Town Beer MURATA, which can be reached in about 45 minutes from Hoshino Resorts KAI Nagato. It is located on a walking path near the Hagi Museum where you can feel the atmosphere of the castle town, so it is fun to take it out as a souvenir after a stroll and compare it with craft beers from Yumoto and Yamaguchi Prefecture!

What is your most memorable trip?: My trips to Beppu with my significant other have been very memorable. I had rarely stayed at a ryokan or hotel for hotel purposes, but the wonderful dinner and room by the sea made me instantly fall in love with the charm of a hotel stay.

What do you do on your days off?: I love the ocean, so I spend my time visiting cafes near the ocean and doing SUP.
Another attraction of Nagato is that there are many marine sports and outdoor activities.

Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?: Recently, I have been looking forward to drinking local beer, and I happen to carry a portable bottle opener that I found on a trip. Since most craft beers are bottled, it is surprisingly useful on a trip.
