Local Guide FAQ
- What areas do you recommend in Asahikawa?
She is also loved by the local people. I am currently fond of the Chimpanzee Museum and the Wolf Forest, where I am amazed by the chimpanzees approaching through the acrylic panels, and in the Wolf Forest I take time to read "The Story of the Ezo Wolves" in the aisle. Asahiyama Zoo is a spot that I recommend now that I am more mature than when I was a child, because there is more to "notice" than just looking at the animals.
- Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.
Joban Park, located near the hotel, is a relaxing spot with lots of greenery and a library. There are delicious ramen shops and cafes nearby, so you can refresh yourself. The recommended seasons are autumn (October) when the ginkgo trees turn yellow, and May when the Ezo-Yamazakura cherry trees bloom!
- Where did you travel to last year and with whom?
Last year, my family and I went to Noboribetsu hot spring. Noboribetsu Onsen is a hot spring ryokan with several different types of hot springs, so you feel like you're getting the best of both worlds. You can take a walk to the hell valley and watch the demons and enjoy the hand baths, which is a unique experience in a hot spring resort. However, my 3 year old daughter was staring at the demons the whole time and it was a scary walk (lol).
- What do you do on your days off?
I also like to play in the park with my children and read a book at a coffee shop with good coffee. In winter, I go skiing and snowboarding. Rather than skiing the whole day, I enjoy going to a nearby ski resort where I can ski in the afternoon depending on the weather.
- Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?
This is a sacosh from Midorimichi Hanpu, located near OMO7 Asahikawa by Hoshino Resorts. It is useful when taking a short walk on a trip or going to a breakfast buffet where both hands tend to be full.
