HOSHINOYA Okinawa: Located in Yomitan Village in the central part of Okinawa Island, about a 60-minute drive from Naha Airport, HOSHINOYA Okinawa opened on July 1, 2020. The property stretches along a beautiful coastline and is enclosed by a "Gusuku Wall," inspired by Okinawa's historic "gusuku" castle ruins. The facility features oceanfront guest rooms, a pool open to the sea that can be enjoyed year-round, and a dojo that serves as a hub for activities, among various other public areas. For dining, guests can enjoy "Ryukyu Siciliana," a fusion of Okinawan ingredients and Sicilian culinary techniques. In this space that gathers the luxuries of Okinawa, you can enjoy a stay that feels like living while gazing out at the sea.

What are your recommended spots in the Yomitan area?: In the Yomitan area, I recommend Toya Fishing Port, which is a 10-minute drive from our hotel. You can enjoy freshly fried tempura with fluffy batter, a classic Okinawan snack, and the seafood bowls and original mozuku seaweed bowls at Toya Fishing Port are popular for their gentle flavors that both children and adults can enjoy.

Please secretly tell us some hidden gems that only a local would know.: Flowers that let you feel the unique seasons of Okinawa are also a highlight. In January, the middle of winter, you can enjoy the vibrant pink Taiwan cherry blossoms at Mt. Yaedake in the northern part of the main island, and around March in spring, you can enjoy the dignified purple Louisiana irises in Ogimi Village. Also, in July, the fantastical Barringtonia racemosa, which only blooms at night, blossoms in Yomitan Village, Naha City, and Nago City, and around October in autumn, the orange Royal Poinciana flowers bloom in full glory near Naha's Kokusai-dori Street. I also recommend touring Okinawa's flowers according to the season.

What is a trip that remains in your memory?: I traveled alone with a backpack for several months through five countries in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Taiwan. The days I spent wandering through markets, relying on my own instincts to find delicious food rather than relying on guidebooks as much as possible, are still fond memories.

How do you spend your days off?: My recent hobby is eating international cuisine while watching TV programs that introduce tourist spots and markets around the world. Watching footage of various countries while eating food from those countries gives me a travel-like feeling and heightens my excitement for my next trip even more.

Is there anything you always bring with you when you travel?: Something I always bring is my amphibious KEEN sandals. I can walk anywhere with just these sandals, whether it's the sea, the mountains, or the city, and they go well with both casual clothes and sportswear, so they are very useful for trips where I want to keep my luggage light.
