The property stretches along a beautiful coastline and is enclosed by a "Gusuku Wall," inspired by Okinawa's historic "gusuku" castle ruins. The facility features oceanfront guest rooms, a pool open to the sea that can be enjoyed year-round, and a dojo that serves as a hub for activities, among various other public areas. What are your recommended spots on the main island of Okinawa?: It might be a classic choice for an Okinawa trip, but Manzamo—the view from there, the vast ocean seen from the sheer cliffs, especially on a clear midsummer day—is truly magnificent.

Please secretly tell us some hidden gems that only a local would know.: I love beautiful beaches, and among them, I would like to recommend one of the wonderful beaches on the main island of Okinawa: 'Akabaka Beach.' When people think of an Okinawa trip, they first think of Shuri Castle or the Churaumi Aquarium, but if you drive just a little further past the Churaumi Aquarium, the beach sits quietly there. It is, of course, very beautiful, but despite that, there are almost no visitors, and having it all to yourself is wonderful.

What is a trip that remains in your memory?: It is Saint Martin Island in the Caribbean, Central America. The beach is right in front of the airport runway, and the intensity of airplanes landing just above the beach is incredible. My spouse and I had talked about wanting to go there someday after seeing it on TV, and when we actually saw a jumbo jet pass right over our heads at that beach, we both cried.

How do you spend your days off?: I have loved vehicles since I was a child. Since I have gone to the trouble of moving to Okinawa, I also take planes to go eat delicious food or attend events, and I travel to Tokyo a few times a month.

Is there anything you always bring with you when you travel?: It might be considered surprising, but it is actually a 'nail clipper.' And not just any, but a wonderful one made by a craftsman that is my favorite. This comes from my experience traveling abroad, where my nails would chip or break while carrying heavy suitcases.
