Perfect for a break from traveling. 7 recommended cafes in Kanazawa Katamachi
Located in the center of Kanazawa, the Katamachi area is one of the largest downtown areas in Hokuriku with more than several thousand restaurants. Walking around Katamachi, you are sure to find your favorite café. Here we introduce some of our favorite cafes for a morning coffee, a relaxing break, or even a night out.
1MONET sandwicherie artisanale
Stylish to the eye! The perfect morning to start your day in Kanazawa!
A hot sandwich and deli store owned by "PLAT HOME," a very popular creative restaurant in Kanazawa. With the theme of "everyday life that blends in with the city," this popular restaurant is loved not only by tourists but also by local customers.
The "Croque Madame" is popular as a morning meal, and comes with a salad and drink set for a good price. Fresh organic vegetables delivered daily from Hisanao Matsuda Shoten, a grocery store across the street from the restaurant, are served with homemade dressing. The bread is a special order from NiOR, a popular bakery in Nonoichi, Kanazawa's neighboring city. Enjoy the marriage of homemade béchamel sauce and smoky half-boiled yolk intertwined with the fluffy bread.
For all kinds of occasions. User-friendly, comfortable space.
Morning and lunch switch after 11:00 a.m., so many people use the restaurant as a brunch. The daily changing "open sandwiches" from 750 yen are a particular delicacy using seasonal ingredients. The charm of this restaurant is that you can enjoy different tastes no matter how many times you come.
We also recommend tasting Japanese wine with homemade deli for lunch. Drinking alcohol in the light of day is exceptional. Why don't you reward yourself for working hard every day with a fun and delicious time that is possible only when you are on vacation? Sweets such as tiramisu and seasonal pound cakes are also popular accompaniments to café time.

2Espresso Bar Kesaran Pasaran
A wide variety of espressos served in the Melbourne style
This cafe was opened by a couple with experience as baristas at a cafe in Melbourne, Australia. They serve various kinds of espresso to let customers feel the different tastes depending on the bean and the way of drinking.
The "Kesapasa Rare Cheese Cake," which resembles cheese with holes in it, has a refreshing lime flavor and melts in the mouth with just the right amount of acidity. The "Flat White," a combination of espresso and milk, is a major drink in Australia. The milk has less foam, so you can enjoy a silky, fine texture.
No need to worry, even for beginners! The more you know, the more you enjoy the world of espresso!
The wide variety of beans and drinking styles makes it easy for even those who don't like coffee to enjoy it. Since different combinations allow you to enjoy completely different tastes and mouthfeel, finding your own favorite is one of the most enjoyable parts of the experience. They offer suggestions that suit each individual, so if you are unsure, we recommend consulting with them.
Sweets are made with coffee in mind, and they will be happy to give you their recommended pairings. The "Kesa Pasa Rare Cheese Cake" is said to go best with the "Long Black" 550 yen, which gives a strong espresso taste.

3FILFIL CACAO FACTORY & CAFÉ・Bar
Bean to bar to discover the depth of cacao
This chocolate specialty store is owned by the popular French restaurant "FIL D'OR" in Kanazawa. It is gaining popularity as a bean-to-bar shop that consistently makes chocolates from the roasting of cacao beans. The delicious drinks and sweets that bring out the full flavor of cacao are impressive.
The "Melting Raw Chocolate" with whiskey has a mildly sweet, adult taste that goes great with alcohol. The "Hot Chocolate" is characterized by a gorgeous sour taste. Its subdued flavor, with a strong sense of the cacao's individuality, makes it a perfect drink to enjoy in the evening.
Enjoy the chain of connections spun and created by cacao!
Cacao beans are purchased directly from Vietnamese farmers. We are able to bring out the original goodness of the ingredients while respecting the individuality of the cacao without killing its original flavor, because we respect the farmers and their cacao beans. We named the store "Phil," meaning "thread," in the hope that it will become a place where people can further connect with each other through cacao.
The hot chocolate is served in original Suzu-yaki bowls that were specially ordered from a Suzu-yaki artist. The connection is expanding, incorporating vessels from local craft artists and creating flavors using ingredients from local farmers.

This coffee shop is tucked away in a building in Katamachi. The coffee shop corner offers a view of the tsuboniwa garden, and you will be surprised at the Japanese-style space that you would not expect to find inside a building.
At the coffee shop, fresh confections from the Japanese confectionery shop "Yoshi Hashi," which offers fresh confections by reservation only, are popular. Seasonal Japanese sweets served in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere are a real treat. Fruit tea from "Haas & Haas," a prestigious tea company from Vienna, is enchanting with its aromatic flavor. Enjoy the berry flavor from the tea leaves filled with dried fruits such as raspberries and papaya to your heart's content.
Enjoy not only the café but also the handicrafts.
The gallery occupies one-third of the spacious store. The owner, who values his relationships with customers, has selected a wide range of artifacts from Japan and abroad. The lineup is wide, both domestic and international, and the owner says that she only handles crafts that she really likes.

5kakurezato coffee
Pies and drinks with elaborate flavors created by the use of spices
This spice and coffee shop is located near the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, but tucked away in a hidden alleyway. When you open the door, you will be filled with the aroma of spices. The store is synonymous with homemade pies made with local ingredients and spices.
The most popular "meat pie" is a crispy homemade pie filled with vegetables and a generous portion of meat. There are always four kinds of seasonal pies made with spices, and the sweetness of the ingredients is maximized in each one. The "café bowl," a creamy café au lait served in a Kutani ware bowl, is a unique drink.
Surrounded by the delicious aroma of spices
The blue Royal Copenhagen tile table, which he says he fell in love with at first sight, is the best seat in the house. With vintage interior furnishings and plenty of sunlight streaming in through the large windows, you can feel the flow of time in the restaurant.
Such a place is an irresistible spot for both locals and tourists. While aiming to be a store that connects people through spices and coffee, it has actually become a place where many interactions take place and new relationships are born. It is also a place where people from the art world come and go and where highly sensitive people gather.

Founded in 1876, Chaya Cafe is run by a tea shop that has been passed down for more than 160 years and continues to be loved by locals, and is now very popular among travelers as well. The wide variety of sweets, which always have more than 50 varieties, all look so delicious that it is hard to choose just one.
The signature item on the menu is the "Dusty Kaga Bocha Parfait," which uses an abundance of Kaga Bocha tea. You can find Kaga-bocha soft serve ice cream, stick tea powder, stick tea jelly, and stick tea pudding all over the parfait. Fruits and dried fruits are also used in the parfait, giving it a mellow yet refreshing taste.
Various ways to enjoy tea, made possible by the fact that we are a tea shop
Don't miss the matcha sweets and drinks, including soft-serve ice cream, green tea, and matcha affogado. The matcha is stone ground in the store, creating a special taste that only a tea specialty store can offer.
The owner personally collects sencha teas from all over Japan, including Fukuoka, Kagoshima, Kyoto, and Shizuoka, and these teas are also popular items. He also has many fans of his shakes, such as the Kaga Bo-cha Shake (400 yen) during the summer season. The interior of the store, with its eye-catching red Japanese umbrella, is full of Japanese atmosphere. Enjoy a cup of tea to your heart's content while looking out over the lush green of the garden.

A sweet treat time in a store with eye-catching dried flowers
The drinks made from Taiwanese tea and Kaga stick tea are also noteworthy. The Kaga Bocha Fruit Tea, which uses Nodaya Chaya's Kaga Bocha tea, is a cup of tea with a distinctly Ishikawa flavor.
