Located in Asama Onsen, known as the inner parlor of Matsumoto, this hot spring facility has a history of over 400 years as the private bathhouse for successive lords of Matsumoto Castle. You can bathe while touching history, surrounded by the dignified, purely Japanese-style building, the old pine tree in the courtyard said to have been planted by Lord Yasunaga Ishikawa of Matsumoto Castle, the old crape myrtle tree looking down from the open-air bath, and family heirlooms and old bath ledgers.

The water is colorless and transparent, a weakly alkaline simple spring. It is characterized by its smooth texture. In addition to the indoor bath with a high, open ceiling and the cypress open-air bath, there is also an outdoor bath in a separate building on the site of the former Matsumoto domain's palace bath, which can also be used. There is also a baby bed in the changing room for convenience.

Inside the building, there is a relaxing area for after bathing, as well as a cafe and a Japanese restaurant, so you can spend your time leisurely.

Located almost in the center of Asama Onsen's "Yunomachi-dori" street, this is a historic public bathhouse that has continued since the Edo period and moved to its current location in 1950. The tiled-roof building is a landmark, and once you step inside, you will find a traditional layout with a front desk (bandai) and changing area right away.

The source water of Asama Onsen flows from the spout, and since it is drinkable, cups are provided; the shower also uses hot spring water. The water, in which small mineral deposits float, is a colorless and transparent alkaline simple spring with a slight sulfur odor, and the source temperature is 49.7 degrees Celsius.

There is a legend that long ago, a traveler suffering from "senki" (abdominal pain or illness) soaked in this water and was cured instantly, and it has been cherished as a famous hot spring ever since. The hot spring, which is reputed to make the skin smooth, opens at 6:00 a.m., so there are many local regulars, and enjoying casual interactions is a unique feature of this traditional public bathhouse.

Toyoshina Onsen "Yutari Yamanokami" in Azumino City is marked by a building modeled after an old-fashioned Japanese house. It has the atmosphere of a solitary house in the mountains. Inside the facility, which has been repeatedly renovated in recent years to be comfortable and well-maintained, there are indoor baths and rock-style open-air baths for both men and women.
There is also a tatami-matted large hall and a kitchenette, where you can freely bring in food and drinks to enjoy.

The spring water, which also flows from the shower faucets, is a sodium bicarbonate spring that is nearly colorless and transparent. Known as a "beauty bath," it has a reputation for leaving skin feeling smooth after a soak. Ajiro-gasa (bamboo hats) are provided for the open-air bath, where you can enjoy the seasonal views of the mountain village, adding a touch of elegance if you wear one while bathing on a rainy day.

The quality of the spring water has spread by word of mouth, attracting not only local regulars but also many visitors from all over the country; visiting on a weekday is recommended if you want to spend time relaxing.
