Hamamatsu Zoo

Located about a 5-minute walk from the Kanzanji Hot Spring bus stop, this zoo is adjacent to Hamamatsu Flower Park. The zoo makes use of the natural terrain along the shores of Lake Hamana and is home to approximately 80 species of animals, including large animals such as tigers, lions, giraffes, and polar bears.

Some monkeys can only be seen here in Japan.

One of the highlights of this zoo is the large variety of monkeys. There is an ape house with gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans, a monkey apartment where 22 rare species of monkeys from around the world can be seen, and a monkey mountain for Japanese monkeys. Among them, the golden lion tamarins, which can only be seen here in Japan, are a must-see. These small monkeys live in the Brazilian rainforest and are characterized by their golden fur and mane-like hair around their faces like a lion.

In addition to animal interaction experiences and feeding goats and sheep, visitors can also watch polar bears and tigers eat (Feeding Time).

Lake Hama Parupar

A family-friendly resort-style amusement park located on the shores of Lake Hamana. With over 25 attractions—ranging from rides suitable for toddlers to full-fledged thrill rides—there’s something for children of all ages. Additionally, the “Paru Paru Family” characters, created by Takashi Yanase (the creator of Anpanman), are extremely popular, and their stage shows are always a hit.If you happen to run into one of the characters as they roam the park, be sure to snap a commemorative photo. Lake Hamana Experience Property Wott

Lake Hamana is a rare lake where freshwater and seawater mix, and it is home to a wide variety of living creatures. “Wott: Lake Hamana Experience Learning Center” is a hands-on property where visitors can have fun learning about the ecology of the creatures and fish that inhabit Lake Hamana.
The facility consists of four popular areas: the “Lake Theater,” which screens an original film depicting the natural environment of Lake Hamana on a 150-inch giant screen; the “Aqua Zone,” which displays fish and shellfish inhabiting the Lake Hamana area and the Enshu Coast in 20 tanks; and the “Interactive Tank,” where visitors can directly touch tropical fish.“Experience Zone,” where visitors can directly touch tropical fish, and the “Learning Zone.”

A particularly popular attraction is the “Lunch Time Feast in the Giant Tank,” held every Wednesday and Saturday.

The event includes commentary by the aquarists, who introduce the creatures in the giant tank and the food provided by Wott, making it an event where you can learn while having fun.

Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika

One of Japan’s leading fruit theme parks where you can enjoy fruit picking all year round. The orchard, located on a vast grounds equivalent to nine Tokyo Domes, cultivates approximately 120 varieties of fruit. The number of fruit trees totals about 4,300.About 15 different types of fruit can be harvested year-round, including plums and cherries in spring; blueberries, grapes, and pears in summer; apples, mandarin oranges, and persimmons in fall; and strawberries in winter. The park is designed so that visitors can harvest 1 to 4 types of fruit every day. Since the fruit you pick is sold by weight, it’s great that you can harvest small amounts of several different varieties.
The farm also features Hamamatsu City’s only winery. Visitors can create their own wines with custom labels and experience having their names engraved on wine glasses.
In addition, the farm offers a wide range of properties where you can enjoy yourself all day long, including a barbecue garden, “Pizza Kobo” (a pizza-making workshop featuring wood-fired ovens), and an activity area equipped with large playground equipment.

Mandarin Orange Picking at Tokura Garden

From early October through the end of November, you can enjoy the seasonal activity of mandarin orange picking. Blessed with abundant sunshine year-round, Hamamatsu is a leading producer of Satsuma mandarins, and many mandarin orchards are scattered around Lake Hamana.Among them, “Mikan Picking Tokura-en” has easy directions—just a 10-minute drive from Kanzanji Hot Spring—and is ideally located right next to the parking lot, so you can start picking mandarins as soon as you arrive.
Furthermore, while many mandarin orange orchards are located on slopes, this one is cultivated on flat ground, so even families with small children can enjoy picking without worrying about the terrain.
The taste of mandarin oranges you pick yourself with scissors—while checking their size, color, and shape—is truly exceptional. You can also take home 1 kg as a souvenir.

Agris Lake Hamana

In Hamamatsu, where the weather is mild even in winter, strawberry picking begins in early December and ends in early May, making it an attractive place to pick strawberries for a long period of time. At Agri-S Hamanako, a group of seven strawberry farms, visitors are guided to the best greenhouses for each season from among about 80 greenhouses. Two varieties of strawberries are grown: "Shohime," a name synonymous with Shizuoka strawberries, and "Benihoppe," which is gaining popularity. The freshly ripened strawberries are so fresh and juicy, and their rich sweetness is so irresistible that you can't help but reach for another one.
The high greenhouses are ideal for family strawberry picking, as wheelchair users and those with weak legs and backs can easily pick strawberries without having to stoop down.
After enjoying strawberries for 30 minutes, you can visit the direct sales corner. In addition to strawberries to take home and handmade strawberry jam, seasonal vegetables, fruits, and fresh flowers are available at reasonable prices.

Arai Benten Sea Fishing Park

"Arai Benten Sea Fishing Park" is located on the western shore of "Imagireguchi," the strait connecting Lake Hamana and the Enshu Coast (Pacific Ocean). Within the park, five T-shaped fishing piers have been constructed, jutting out into the lake.
On holidays during the fishing season—from spring through fall—the park bustles with anglers of all skill levels, from beginners to experts. Because the current runs fast, the key is to assess the conditions on the lake surface before deciding where to fish. You can catch fish such as horse mackerel, sea bass, sand whiting, flounder, filefish, and rockfish; depending on the season, you can also target octopus and black sea bream—a prized catch among anglers.
In addition, since there’s a barbecue area on-site, a great way to spend your day is to make the barbecue the main event and enjoy some fishing before or after.
Also adjacent is the “Imagiri Experience Village: Kaikokan,” where you can participate in craft workshops.In the summer, they offer “eel-catching and grilled eel experiences” and “fish-catching experiences,” while in the winter, their “oyster huts” are open and have gained a great reputation.
Nearby is “Lake Hamana Park Village,” where you can dine and camp with your pets—this spot is also very popular.

Phantom Marine Kodama

Phantom Marine Kodama, based in Kanzanji hot spring, organizes a variety of marine activities on Lake Hamana. There is a wide variety of marine sports to experience, including the exhilarating "Super Boat," which runs on the surface of the lake at an average speed of 70 km/h, parasailing, which allows two people to walk through the air using a parachute, and yacht cruising. There are also a variety of other activities that parents and children can enjoy together, such as the cycle boat "Nessie" and the "Paltu," a 2-horsepower motor boat that does not require a license.

Okuhamana Lake offers a variety of naturally beautiful scenery with different atmospheres when viewed from the lake, such as Tsubutejima, the only uninhabited island in Hamana Lake, and a rock formation called Kagami Iwa. The quieter waves make it a perfect location for sea kayaking.

Gomi Hachin Meiwan Branch

"Gomi Hachin" is a Chinese family restaurant chain with over 40 locations throughout Shizuoka Prefecture.The restaurant provides children’s cutlery and cushions, as well as coloring books to keep them entertained while waiting for their food, and these services are highly popular with families with young children.
