4 Recommended Restaurants for Dinner in Chitose: From Genghis Khan to Seafood
Chitose City offers a variety of restaurants where you can taste the flavors of Hokkaido, from Genghis Khan to seafood, and we have selected some of the best places for dinner from within walking distance of JR Chitose Station or a 10-minute drive from the New Chitose Airport.
1Sushi Restaurant Hokuminohana
Taking advantage of the close proximity to the airport, ingredients are flown in from all over Japan.
This sushi restaurant has been a local favorite for over 20 years in Chitose's Shinbashidori shopping street. You can enjoy plenty of local Hokkaido seafood, such as sea urchin from Otaru (Otaru) in the summer, chip (hime-masu) from Lake Shikotsuko (Shikotsuko), and tachi (cod milt) in the winter.
Furthermore, taking advantage of its proximity to New Chitose Airport, the restaurant sources the finest ingredients from all over Japan by air every day, with conger eel being the most popular item among regular customers. We are particular about wild conger eel, and purchase from Toyosu Market, including those from Edo-mae and Tsushima in Nagasaki Prefecture. They select and nigiri the best fish of the season.
Omakase Course" featuring the specialties of our chefs.
The most popular course is the "omakase course" available only at the counter. The menu changes depending on the day's purchases, but the chef will serve you sashimi, a small bowl of cooked food, grilled dishes, nigiri, and other dishes at just the right time. There is no charge and no service fee.
In 2014, "I want to create the ultimate ideal restaurant," he opened "Kitanohana Hayashi" next to the restaurant, which has only eight counter seats. This restaurant is by reservation only and offers only a 10,000 yen omakase course (from October 2019, the price will be changed to 12,000 yen). Early reservations are recommended due to its popularity, as it was rated two stars in the "Michelin Guide Hokkaido 2017 Special Edition.

3Chitose Rum Kobo Yamajin
Freshness is assured by direct delivery from the butcher's workshop.
Jingisukan restaurant is located on Guion Street in downtown Chitose City. The meat comes directly from a butcher store specializing in lamb, so the quality of the meat is second to none. Rare parts of lamb, such as "lamb tongue," which is rarely distributed, are also on the menu.
The most popular dish is the "thick-cut cured lamb steak" served medium rare. The 2cm-thick raw lamb is so tender that everyone is surprised and says, "I have never had such juicy lamb meat. The freshness of the lamb means there is no odor, and once you try it, you will surely become a fan of lamb meat.
Finish off your Genghis Khan meal with udon noodles!
The "Agari Udon Sukiyaki-style" is recommended as a way to end the Genghis Khan meal. Udon noodles and green onions are placed in the groove of the pot and cooked with a special sauce, then dipped in beaten egg. It is exceptionally tasty and easy to eat even after a hearty meal of meat. Please try it.
For those who just want to eat and drink to their heart's content, an all-you-can-eat and drink plan is also available. There is also a sister yakiniku restaurant nearby, "Takibiya," where you can taste not only mutton but also Japanese black beef and Shiraoi beef as well.
