Tantalize your taste buds with local delicacies. Recommended lunches around New Chitose Airport
There are many restaurants inside New Chitose Airport, but there are also many reputable and delicious restaurants scattered around the area. Ramen, soup curry, pork bowls, and various other local delicacies unique to Hokkaido are also available. Here are some recommended lunch restaurants that can be Directioned from the airport by car or by JR.
1Menya Rei
Michelin-recognized ramen restaurant
This is a locally famous ramen restaurant that won a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Hokkaido 2017. The most popular is the Shoyu. Pork bones, chicken bones, and seafood are simmered separately to create a rich broth. The noodles are medium-thick and frizzy, which go well with the thick soup. The topping is grated onion, which is dissolved in the soup as you eat it. The thick yet tender chashu pork is also very tasty. It is a unique dish that can only be enjoyed here.
Original taste you want to eat even if you have to wait in line
In addition to "Shoyu," "Shio," and "Miso" ramen, there is also "Tsukemen (Miso or Shoyu)" with a choice of 200g, 300g, or 400g noodles. Tsukemen" has thick, frizzy noodles, while "Shio" has thin, straight noodles.
The store is so popular that there is a long line at lunchtime, but this is proof that the taste is that good. It might be a good idea to visit at a later time. It is worth taking the trouble to stop by on your way to the restaurant.

The thick, mellow soup has a great flavor, but it is not too thick or heavy. The balance between the noodles and the soup is excellent!

2Asian Bar Lamai Chitose
Excellent spicy soup curry
Soup curry, which originated in Sapporo, is a light, soupy curry that differs from the thicker roux curry. It is served in a spicy broth that preserves the flavor of the ingredients, such as vegetables and meat.
Asian Bar Lamai is the Chitose branch of a soup curry restaurant that opened in Sapporo in 2003 and quickly became popular. In addition to "Yasai" and "Chicken," the restaurant offers eight types of soup curry, including "Udan" with two shrimp tempura and "Tafu Goreng" with deep-fried tofu added.
Dine in a resort-like atmosphere in Bali!
There are 10 levels of spiciness for the curry, which can be adjusted to your liking. For those who prefer spicier food, it is possible to increase the spiciness with fresh chili peppers for a real hot taste (from 50 yen). Rice is cooked with several spices and coconut milk, and is called "nasi kuning," a popular dish in Indonesia.
Another hidden favorite is "Soup Sapi Putas," a traditional Javanese soup. The rich beef-based broth is intertwined with a refreshing citrus acidity, creating a mysterious taste.

The soup is deep and rich, the chicken is tender and tender, and the vegetables are delicious and very satisfying! I also recommend the lamassi to go along with it.

3Charcoal grilled pork bowl Kukai
Obihiro's famous pork bowl
Pork donburi is a bowl of rice topped with charbroiled pork and sweet and spicy sauce. It is a local dish of the Tokachi region, but there is also a famous restaurant in Eniwa City, a neighbor of Chitose City, called "Charcoal Grilled Pork Kukai," which was selected as a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Hokkaido in 2012 and 2017. The pork is carefully selected fresh pork from Hokkaido, and the rice is made from "Yumepirika" brown rice sent directly from farmers and milled in-house. We hope you will enjoy the savory, tender pork grilled to perfection and the refreshing sauce that goes well with the rice.
The restaurant is full as soon as it opens for lunch!
The menu consists only of charcoal-grilled pork bowls and soba noodles. The soba noodles are also highly reputed. The most frequently ordered dish is the "Kukai Set," which includes both the pork bowl and soba noodles. The set includes a pork bowl with half the amount of rice and 70% pork of the "Sumiyaki Pork Donburi Roast," so it can be eaten in one sitting.
There is also a large 1.4-kilogram "Bigiri Pork Donburi," which is also available. However, the restaurant is so crowded during the day that it fills up as soon as it opens, so we recommend that you try it outside of peak lunch hours or on Saturdays and Sundays.

A restaurant where you can enjoy authentic soba noodles and authentic pork bowl together. The meat is tender and the sauce is just the right amount of sweet and spicy to make your rice go further! The mega-size menu is also very interesting.

This restaurant specializes in authentic kamameshi, made with an abundance of delicious ingredients from Hokkaido. The rice is “Nanatsuboshi” from Eniwa. It is cooked in a traditional iron pot using a carefully selected broth. The menu offers a dazzling variety of options, ranging from seafood such as fresh sea urchin, salmon roe, scallops, and snow crab, to meats like Hokkaido beef and Eniwa pasture-raised pork, as well as wild mountain vegetables and mushrooms. The rice, richly infused with the umami of the ingredients, is delicious right down to the crispy crust at the bottom of the pot.In addition to topping it with condiments and chopped pickles, you can also pour the remaining broth over the rice to enjoy it as ochazuke.
In addition to kamameshi, set menus with white rice are also available.
During weekday lunchtime, in addition to kamameshi, the “Ginshari Set Meal”—which features freshly cooked white rice paired with a side dish—is also popular. You can choose from nine different set meals, including fried chicken, gyoza, steak, chili shrimp, tempura, and tonkatsu.

5Kaisen Sushi Restaurant Hokuhoku Tei Chitose
Weekday lunch sets are popular.
This is the Chitose branch of a conveyor-belt sushi chain with locations throughout Hokkaido. Even though it’s conveyor-belt sushi, Hokkaido—with its abundance of seafood—truly lives up to its reputation. The freshness of the toppings is guaranteed. Featuring seasonal seafood shipped directly from fishing ports across the region, you can enjoy dishes starting at 130 yen per plate (excluding tax).Particularly popular are the lunch sets, available only on weekdays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Among these, the “12-Piece Lunch Set” is especially popular because it lets you enjoy 12 pieces of nigiri sushi, each featuring a different type of topping. Since one cup each of self-serve soup and coffee is provided free of charge, the restaurant gets crowded during lunchtime.
Sushi made by a craftsman with a "single piece of sushi" approach.
The menu beyond the lunch sets is also extensive. It features great value “Three-Piece Platters” like the “Bluefin Tuna Trio” and “Salmon Trio,” where you can enjoy three different varieties on a single plate, as well as the “Shellfish Trio” and the top-grade autumn salmon “Hidaka-produced Aged Ginshō”—all offering flavors unique to Hokkaido. There are over 100 types of nigiri, including daily specials. Each piece is an authentic creation crafted by master chefs. The sushi rice, made from a blend of Hokkaido rice varieties “Fukkurinko” and “Nanatsuboshi,” is also highly praised for its delicious flavor.
Since it’s close to New Chitose Airport, it’s a great place to stop by before returning your rental car.
