Take a break in Nasu Highlands. 5 recommended cafes to stop by during your trip
There are many cafes in Nasu Kogen where you can take a relaxing break. Why don't you spend your time at your leisure, talking about memories of your trip, planning your future itinerary, and so on, while sipping a cup of coffee that has been brewed with care. Here are some cozy cafes to visit during your trip to Nasu.
1Cafe Footprints
A perfect cup of coffee in a comfortable space with jazz music playing.
The contrast of green and white in a country-style setting makes for a lovely café. The coffee is carefully brewed one cup at a time by the master while listening to the jazz music that plays softly in the background.
The wood-toned, gently sunlit interior is filled with jazz records. They are said to be from the collection of the master's father, who was a jazz critic before his death. The name of the store was also named after his favorite jazz guitarist, Pat Martino, with the meaning of "my father's footprints" from his collection of "Footprints".
Aromatic coffee brewed by flannel drip
All coffee beans are roasted in-house, and you can select your favorite flavor from 11 varieties. We recommend the "Footprints Blend," which is named after the store. It is slightly sweet and has a soft taste.
Watching the brewing process from the counter is a blissful experience. When the master lived in Tokyo, he frequented coffee shops and taught himself how to brew coffee. Spend a soothing time while chatting about his coffee obsession and jazz masterpieces.

2Nasu Satie Cafe
Elegant cakes and coffee to be enjoyed in the nature of Nasu Highlands
At this café, you can enjoy gorgeous homemade cakes and coffee while gazing at the lush green nature of Nasu.
Upon entering the store, the first thing that catches the eye is the showcase filled with a variety of cakes. The variety of cakes changes every day of the week. The most popular is a special cake called "Dream Series," sold only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. They are made with domestically produced fresh cream and are characterized by their light, refreshing sweetness and mature flavors. The "Dream Series" cakes are available in limited quantities and are sometimes sold out, so coming early is recommended.
Luxurious interior reminiscent of a luxury cruise ship
The image of the store is that of a cruise ship. Surrounded by tables, chairs, lamps, and other ship-like furnishings, customers can enjoy a resort-like atmosphere. We also recommend spending time on the terrace, which is modeled after the tip of a ship, while enjoying the view of the vast nature.
What is nice is that, in contrast to the luxurious appearance, you can enjoy a generous pour-over cup of coffee and large-sized cakes at a reasonable price. The size of the cakes is designed so that even men who love cakes can go home satisfied. Enjoy a luxurious moment in a high-quality space.

A building with yellow walls and a triangular roof appears as you ride along the Nasu Highway. The café is a popular place for cyclists to relax, and attracts many visitors from Tochigi and other prefectures. It is a place that is unique to Tochigi Prefecture, which hosts the Japan Cup and other bicycle road races and is proactive in welcoming cyclists.

Excellent coffee and cake rolls filled with the store's specialties
The store offers freshly ground coffee, sweets, and a menu of light meals from around the world, including quesatilla, a Mexican home-style dish. The "Coffee of the Day" menu also includes some rare Asian beans. The "Today's Roll Cake," made by hand from the dough, has a deliciously sweet cream and fluffy chiffon dough. Depending on the day, you can enjoy a variety of flavors such as chocolate, green tea, and fruit.

4Cafe St.Croix, wood stove and coffee shop
A warm and cozy space to spend time with the signature dog, Chachamaru-kun.
When you open the door of the café, which is set in a peaceful landscape, you will be greeted by the aroma of delicious coffee and the adorable signboard dog, Chachamaru-kun. Many customers return not only for the taste of the coffee, but also because they are captivated by the friendly and quiet Chachamaru-kun, who looks like a stuffed animal. The menu features specialty coffee brewed with a siphon, handmade sweets, soup heated by a wood-burning stove, and other heart-warming items.
A cup of coffee brewed with a sparkling siphon
For coffee beans, we handle only specialty coffee from "Tomikuei Coffee" in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, where the master's parents live, and use carefully selected beans from there. He visited various cafes to find the taste he liked and decided to use the rare siphon method of brewing coffee. When the coffee is brewed at dusk, the light from the flames on the glass bowl creates a fantastic atmosphere. A visit to the store at this time of day is also recommended. In winter, how about taking a relaxing break with the signature dog, Chachamaru, while watching the wood stove burn?

Special coffee to be enjoyed with the nature of Nasu
The shop is located in a forest with clean air and looks like a hideaway. The hand-drip coffee brewed by the master, who is a certified international Bali barista, has a delicate, rich, and beautiful flavor that cannot be found anywhere else. The concept of the store is "marriage with coffee. From the time he was studying to be a barista, the master believed that the marriage of good coffee with the environment is important. When he started the café, he chose this location rich in nature where he could relax his body and mind and feel peaceful.
Enjoy a lunch of specialty coffee and fresh vegetables.
We recommend the special lot purchased from a farm in Panama. The coffee is made from rare beans and has a smooth and pleasant taste. Coffee beans brewed in the store are also available for purchase in the store. As you listen to the cheerful and gentle master talk about drip brewing and farms, you will be fascinated by the deep world of coffee.
The vegetables used in the food menu are also picked in the onsite fields. It is a pleasant place to spend time, feeling the meticulous work in every possible place.
