Recommended hot springs around Nikko where you can stop by between sightseeing

Nikko is dotted with spots where you can enjoy day-trip hot springs. Soaking in hot springs on your trip is one of the pleasures of traveling.

About a 20-minute bus ride from Nikko Station, “Yashio no Yu,” located just before the Iroha-zaka slope, is a public hot spring property in Nikko City. It’s renowned for leaving your skin feeling smooth and silky. The spring water is colorless, transparent, alkaline simple hot spring, making it safe for everyone from the elderly to children to enjoy.

The Public hot spring has a low-temperature sauna, a water bath in the men's bath and a bubble bath in the women's bath. With a manicured garden spread out before you, you can enjoy the Public hot spring with a liberating view of the garden while soaking in the hot spring.

The property features a Dining Area, massage chairs, and a rest area, which you can easily use before or after your bath. With on-site parking (84 spaces), it’s also convenient to stop by by car.

Outdoor hot spring

There is an outdoor hot spring bath in the continuation of the Public hot spring, and bathing while enjoying the view of Nikko's lush natural garden will help you forget the fatigue of the day. A large maple tree is right in front of the baths, and the fresh greenery in early spring, the autumn leaves in fall, and the snow-viewing baths in winter provide a soothing space to experience the changing of the seasons. At night, the outdoor hot spring is lit up and shows a different face from that of the daytime, making it a popular spot for visitors from far and wide.

The water has a smooth, silky texture that leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. The washing areas tend to get crowded on weekend evenings, so be sure to allow plenty of time for your visit.

Rest area

In the rest area, known as the “Koryu-shitsu” (Social Room), many people relax on the tatami mats and chat after their bath. We also recommend taking your time to enjoy souvenirs purchased at the gift shop.

At the Dining Area, the pork cutlet and meat patty cutlets made with Nikko’s brand pork—Nikko HIMITSU Pork—are very popular. “Yuba Ramen” (soy sauce or miso), featuring delicious seasoned yuba, is also a popular menu item.
