Nikko
Nikko is dotted with cultural heritage sites such as Nikko Toshogu Shrine, and also offers scenic natural beauty such as Lake Chuzenji, Kegon Falls, and Iroha Slope. Nikko is also rich in culinary delights, from yuba (buckwheat) and soba (buckwheat noodles), specialties nurtured in the region's climate, to Western cuisine that flourished in the summer resort area during the Meiji era (1868-1912). With easy access to transportation, only about 2 hours from Tokyo by car or train, Nikko is now an international tourist city that attracts many foreigners.
