Local Guide FAQ
- Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.
1) We recommend the Daishoji area, a town that once flourished as a castle town and is steeped in history and traditional culture, located next to Kaga hot spring station. Although it is not a very busy area, the city provides assistance for the renovation of machiya (traditional townhouses), so you can find fashionable stores such as cafes and bars that are hideouts in the traditional townscape. In Daishoji Temple, there is also a museum of Kutani ware, one of Kaga's representative traditional crafts, where visitors can learn about the history of Kutani in many different ways.
(2) About a 20-minute drive from Hoshino Resorts KAI Kaga is the Takigahara area. Takigahara has a thriving stone culture, and you can visit an important cultural asset, an arched stone bridge and stone quarry that was built from the late Meiji Period to the early Showa Period, which has been recognized as a Japanese Heritage site. In addition, at the Takigahara Café, a renovated old private house, you can enjoy a menu using ingredients from local farms and the neighborhood.
- Where did you travel to last year and with whom?
I traveled to various countries such as the U.S. (New York and Boston), Taiwan, the Netherlands, and the UAE to visit friends from my study abroad days. I enjoyed experiencing the differences in culture, climate, people, food, and aromas unique to each place.
In Japan, I stayed at a ryokan in Hakone with my family. It was my first family trip in a long time, and I realized once again that even as I get older, time with my family is a good and healing thing.
- What do you do on your days off?
I have been exploring Kaga, mainly visiting cafes and museums that are easy to enter by myself. I talk with Guests/customers and staff at the stores I visit to find out more in-depth information that I can share with Hoshino Resorts KAI Kaga's guests and make them happy.
- Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?
I am a friend, although "take along" is not the right word. There was a time when I preferred to travel alone, but I find that being able to share the surprises and excitement of a destination with someone else really enhances a trip. Traveling with friends or family members who know each other well, you can spend time without worrying about each other, and it doubles or triples the excitement.
