Local Guide FAQ

What do you recommend (places, experiences, food) in the Nikko and Kinugawa area?

I recommend Tamamo Koji in the Imaichi area. It is a narrow alley, but it is filled with wonderful Nikko spots such as Nikko Coffee, a cafe, a cute donut shop made from Nikko yuba bean curd, and a small flower shop.

Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.

It is a 10-minute walk from Hoshino Resorts KAI Nikko, at the Utagahama Parking lot. Direction to the British and Italian Embassies, this parking lot has a beautiful view of Lake Chuzenji and Mt. In winter, the wind blows in, so you can see mysterious scenery such as "splash ice" and large icicles, which cover the trunks and branches of trees with ice all over.

Where did you travel to last year and with whom?

I went to Ise Jingu Shrine with four female friends. We enjoyed two days not only visiting the shrine but also eating and chatting with each other. I like Thailand very much, so I regularly go there by myself.

What do you do on your days off?

I often go to bookstores. I enjoy looking at the titles on the spines of the bookshelves, looking for the one that strikes me and buying it. I can look at them for hours.

 Coffee
Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?

I travel with only a backpack, whether in Japan or abroad. I like to think about how to reduce my luggage and how to pack when packing. My friends who go with me are always surprised at how little luggage I have.
