Recommended hole-in-the-wall cafes a short walk from Kanazawa Station
Kanazawa has many wonderful cafes that you may want to go out of your way to visit, even if they are located a little far from the downtown area. Whether it is a place where you can relax away from the hustle and bustle or a one-of-a-kind menu that you can only find there, there is a reason to take the time to visit. Even if you don't have a car, here are some cafes that are accessible by bus from Kanazawa Station and are well known by those in the know.
1Patisserie & Parlor Horita205 (Patisserie & Parlor Horita Ni Marugo)
A variety of gorgeous sweets starring seasonal fruits
This patisserie and parlor is produced by Hori and others, a Kanazawa produce store established in 1878. The "205" in the store's name is a registration number used for market auctions and represents the company's desire to carefully assess ingredients and deliver them to Guest/customers with confidence. The parlor offers a menu featuring seasonal fruits and vegetables. The menu varies depending on the time of day, including a morning set that comes with a salad full of vegetables, a chopped salad lunch with colorful vegetables served with a spoon, and sweets supervised by a patissier during café hours.
A café with a resort-like atmosphere surrounded by greenery
The restaurant is located in a peaceful area about 20 minutes by car from Kanazawa Station. On the second floor, you can enjoy an elegant meal with a view of Mt. The patisserie on the first floor offers a showcase of cakes and crepes made with fresh fruit. Fruit juices filled with fruit are also popular. A wide variety of handmade baked goods such as cookies and pound cakes are also available, and are recommended as souvenirs.

2Wazana Cafe
A community-based café that values connections
This café is operated by Wazanaka, an advertising production company in Kanazawa. The café was established in February of last year after renovating the first floor of its headquarters to provide a place where people can meet the locals. Taking advantage of its location, the café uses coffee beans roasted by "Brasil Shop" in the same shopping arcade. The cafe's local ties are also a source of comfort, as customers can bring in products from the Japanese-style confectionary store "Tomizuya," located two doors down, and taste them in the store. Toast made with custom-built bread with a smooth texture is also popular, and the shop offers everything from meals to sweets.
A living room-like space where you can relax on sofas
The manager hopes that customers will use the store as a place to "stop and think in their spare time, or to talk about trivial matters that will be forgotten tomorrow," so the store is furnished with bookshelves lined with books of a wide range of genres, creating a space as relaxing as one's living room. In addition to tables, there are also sofa seats and counter seats, allowing customers to spend time at their leisure. The Teramachi Street where the restaurant is located is densely packed with temples, so it is also a charming place to enjoy a walk through history while visiting the cafe.

3Kafu MURAKAMI Head Office
Japanese sweets with a freshly made texture
The concept of this Japanese-style café is "the most delicious moment," and you can enjoy freshly made wagashi handmade by artisans. When you order from the menu, you will first be served a "Pokeashi Set," which includes bite-sized Uji green tea, bite-sized Japanese sweets, rice-flour cookies, amanatto (sweet bean paste), and other sweets that vary from time to time. Original Japanese sweets include Japanese-style pancakes baked in the manner of dorayaki, kuzukiri and warabimochi, which are made to order, and other freshly made items that are sure to excite your appetite. The shaved ice, available only in summer, is also an item that is full of attention to detail.
The relaxed atmosphere and the tableware that complements the confections are also very nice.
Natural and modern space with the warmth of wood
The café is operated by Murakami, a Japanese confectionery store established in 1911. The entrance to the store, located on the first floor of the headquarters, is decorated with a yuzen curtain hand-painted by a famous Kaga yuzen artist, creating a Kanazawa-like atmosphere for enjoying Japanese sweets. Inside the store, a counter made of a single piece of zelkova wood and the use of Japanese tableware from Ishikawa and other prefectures are the essence of making your snack time even higher quality. The store offers an array of eye-catching wagashi, and the Kami-gashi, a Japanese sweet available only at the main store, is also popular. You can enjoy a new sense of Japanese confectionery with a playful spirit.
