Four excellent bakeries in Nasu Kogen you want to take out
Nasu Kogen, with its beautiful natural environment and abundance of hot springs and other tourist attractions, is a popular resort area that is easily accessible from the Tokyo metropolitan area. In fact, this area is also known as a fierce battleground for bakeries. Many tourists from far and wide visit these stores, which are full of specialties, such as authentic baked goods baked in stone ovens and specialty stores that specialize in rice flour and manufacturing methods. Here we introduce a selection of bakeries recommended for takeout that you should visit when you come to Nasu.
1NAOZO
Stone oven bread made with carefully selected ingredients is addictive and attracts many repeat customers.
This bakery has a reputation for bread baked in an authentic wood-fired stone kiln. Bread baked at once at the high temperature of the stone kiln is characterized by the perfect balance between the crispy, savory surface and the chunky filling. The reason for their popularity is the carefully selected ingredients, such as natural yeast and whole grains. Yamagata Bak bread, which does not use oil or fat and allows you to taste the flavor of the wheat itself, is such a signature item that it cannot be purchased without an advance reservation. The "Walnut Raisin Bread," featuring the natural sweetness of raisins and the texture of walnuts, is also a must-buy item. You will be amazed at the bread's ability to take time and effort to make.
Check the baking time and make reservations in advance.
When you enter the store, the first thing that catches your eye is the large stone oven. If your timing is good, you can watch the baking process up close. The flames burning inside the kiln are powerful, and the aroma of the baked bread spreads throughout the store. The store is quite popular, and bread is often sold out by the time you make a reservation. Check the baking time of the item you are interested in, and be sure to make a reservation in advance before visiting.
Next to the bread counter is a café space with about 6 seats. You can also enjoy your café time with freshly baked bread.

2Bagel que-vaeu
Flavorful bagels made with a unique method
This bagel specialty store offers about 20 kinds of bagels every day. The bagels are made with "Yumekaori" wheat from Tochigi Prefecture, soft sugar, Ako salt, and marine yeast, and are characterized by their soft texture and the simple taste of wheat.
Our goal was not to create bagels that are authentic New York bagels, but bagels that suit the Japanese palate. The bagels are filled with azuki bean paste, chocolate, basil, nuts, and other ingredients, so they are very satisfying even when eaten as is. One of the most popular bagels is the "An Bagel" with Koshian (red bean paste) wrapped around it. No matter where you eat it, the rich flavor of azuki beans will spread in your mouth.
The reason for the popularity of this shop is its concept of being close to people's daily lives.
Inside the store, the shelves are filled with carefully wrapped bagels with a handmade feel. Since bagels made with simple ingredients tend to become hard, they are kept moist by placing them in a bag. If you have any leftover bagels, you can freeze them and still enjoy the same flavor. The store also sells the works of local artists, so it is a pleasure to look around.
Another nice point is that most of the products are reasonably priced at around 150 yen. With the motto of "something you can eat every day," the prices are affordable for everyone.

3Nasu Kogen Bread House Couronne Linea
Bread made with homemade yeast fermented at low temperature for a long time has a different flavor.
This store is particular about using more than a dozen different types of flour for each bread, including original wheat and French flour ones. The bakery uses homemade yeast for its bread, which is fermented at a low temperature for a long time to produce a richly flavored dough. They also use only the best ingredients, such as Nasu eggs and fresh butter.
The most popular "Salty Dog" is a dog bun with a large sausage sandwiched in between, sprinkled with rock salt and lemon peel. One bite and the mouth is filled with juicy flavor, and the aroma of herbs makes it even more appetizing. This is a dish that has many repeat customers.
Find your favorite from a wide variety of breads!
The bread popular among regular customers is "hard toast. It is made from French bread dough without sugar or fat. The specialty bread "Couronne," named after the store's name, is richly kneaded with homemade maple cream. Find your favorite bread from the extensive lineup.
The store, which was converted from a pension, also has an eat-in building. On a fine day, we recommend enjoying your bread on the open terrace surrounded by greenery.

4Rice Bakery in Nasu
Rice-flour bread with a gentle taste that will make you feel warm
The rice-flour bread specialty store was started with the idea of "delivering bread made in Nasu's rich natural environment. They are particular about local ingredients, using "Asahi no Yume" rice produced in Nasu for the rice flour and raw milk from Nasu, pasteurized at the store.
The most popular sandwich is the "rice bread" (including wheat gluten), which is made with more than 80% rice. Rice bread sandwiches with Koshi An (sweet red bean paste) or crunch chocolate cream have a light and gentle taste. They are made without yeast food or emulsifiers, so they are safe for everyone from children to the elderly.
Soft ice cream made from raw milk and rice flour is also popular!
