The most popular theme parks in Nikko and Kinugawa! Introducing popular spots!

There are so many theme parks in Nikko and Kinugawa that you can get lost in them. Here we introduce some of the most popular theme parks and leisure spots that can be enjoyed by everyone, children and adults alike.

Attack the giant maze that is not a simple task

The Giant Maze Palladium, an amusement park featuring a large maze with intricate wooden walls, is located near Edo Wonderland. The site covers an area of about 3,200 tsubo, and the maze alone is 1,300 tsubo in size. The maze is not a simple and difficult one, but if you reach the goal within 25 minutes, you will be rewarded with juice, so set a goal and give it a try.

Rules of the Giant Maze

Here are the rules of the maze.

1. Start with a time stamp.
2. Press the four provided stamps of "Ki," "Nu," "Ga," and "Wa" at the checkpoints in the maze.
3. Press the time stamp at the goal to clear the maze.

The rules are quite simple, but it is not so easy to clear the maze. There are bridges along the way so that you can see the entire maze, and if you try to take shortcuts, you may end up in a dead end. The average time to finish the maze is 40~50 minutes, and if you can reach the goal in 25 minutes, you are good, but the best record in the 30 years since the maze opened is 9 minutes. A student conquered the maze in two attempts during his summer vacation.

Putting golf in addition to the giant maze

Putting golf is attached next to the entrance of the maze, which is good for a little fun, but can also be easily used for waiting for the goal of the maze.
This is an Activity spot that not only stimulates children's spirit of exploration, but also allows adults to return to their childhood memories.

Transform into an Edo person and enjoy Edo culture

This is a very popular spot for both adults and children.
Another popular point is that visitors can slip back in time to the Edo period and have a realistic experience. Costume rentals are available, so we recommend spending the day transforming into an Edo person. The scenery you have seen in period dramas is spread out.
There are five areas with unique Edo characteristics, a playhouse, and a museum, making it a space where visitors can spend the entire day.

Experience the town of Edo from various angles

There are many places to play inside the buildings, but you will also find various tricks while walking around the Edo town. If you are careless, you may be shown a written arrangement and be roped off by the bureaucrats. If you are asked a question, it is a good idea to answer truthfully. Depending on your answers, you will be charged with different crimes.
You will be released after taking a commemorative photo with the official.

In summer, the "mizukake mikoshi togo," or parade of portable shrines, is held in the Edo district. This is a very popular summer event in which water is poured on the mikoshi as it parades through the streets of Edo.

The most popular food is soba (buckwheat noodles).
Until soy sauce became common in the mid-Edo period, soba noodles were usually served with men-tsuyu made from miso (soybean paste). Eating seiro (buckwheat noodles) with this men-tsuyu is a common way of eating buckwheat noodles.
Other Dining Areas include charcoal-grilled yakitori, Japanese cuisine, oden, and more. Yakatabune (houseboats) that cruise along the moat allow visitors to bring their own snacks. Visitors can enjoy a meal together with a sightseeing tour of the city with its Edo scenery.

Museum of Craftsmanship

In the village, there is a museum called "Edo Seikatsu Bunka Denshokan" which exhibits daily necessities with craftsmanship handed down from the Edo period.
Among the exhibits, "Japanese swords and nail clippers" are the quintessential examples of Edo craftsmanship, including a masterpiece by the 700-year-old Kyoto swordsmith Kikuichimonji, who innovated his skills into nail clippers that are highly regarded even overseas. The gallery also showcases a wide range of Japanese craftsmanship and design, including Edo faceting, brooms, uchiwa fans, bamboo and knob crafts, indigo dyeing, and sparkling fireworks. Here is one of the message plates.

The only thing that won't cut at the knife shop is the hair pluckers and the Guest/customer's karma.

It's Edo chic.

Reliable facilities

If you need Wi-Fi, you can connect to FREE Wi-Fi at Shinanoya next to the fire watchtower.
Also, if you get sick, there is a first aid room, and during summer vacation and Golden Week, nurses are always on call. A system for peace of mind is in place.
If you have lost something, you can pick it up if it has been delivered to Echigoya. If not, please inquire at the office in front of the barrier gate (entrance).
