This lunch spot offers fresh fugu delivered straight from the market at reasonable prices. The No. 1 popular menu item, the “Fuku no Seki Set Meal,” is a fugu-filled set that lets you enjoy tiger pufferfish sashimi, deep-fried fugu, and nanbanzuke (pickled fugu) all at once.They also offer set menus that include fugu hot pot. With a wide selection of local specialties—such as whale set meals and kawara soba sets—it’s the perfect spot for those who want to sample Shimonoseki’s famous dishes all at once.

For children, the menu includes kids’ meals and half-size seafood rice bowls, so the whole family can enjoy a leisurely lunch while savoring fresh seafood.

This playful hotel incorporates Shimonoseki-inspired designs featuring pufferfish and the ocean throughout its premises.In addition to plenty of spaces where children can play freely—such as the sandy “Fugu Beach” and the “Naminami Terrace” with its expansive lawn—the hotel offers a wide range of rental items, including step stools for sinks, toilet training seats, baby bottle sterilization kits, and kettles for preparing formula.

Furthermore, when dining at the main restaurant “OTTO SETTE SHIMONOSEKI” or using the spa facilities, you can take advantage of the childcare facility (nursery).

1:30 p.m. Fugu Pool

Have a blast in the indoor pool before check-in!

This indoor heated pool features colorful illustrations of pufferfish. It offers four different pools ranging in depth from 15 cm to 110 cm. In addition to a water slide approximately 30 meters long—accessible to visitors 120 cm or taller—there’s also a low, gentle slide designed for toddlers, so even the youngest children will be captivated.You can rent swim rings and flotation aids for free, making it the perfect place for a child’s first time in the pool.

To use the pool, you must wear a swimsuit or swim diapers—either brought from home or purchased at the front desk. Additionally, children under middle school age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Deluxe Force

This guest room accommodates up to four guests. The “Lounging Bed” located between the bed and the sofa functions as a sofa when two guests are staying and converts into a bed when three or more guests are present. On the sofa and at the table by the window, you can spend a relaxing family moment while enjoying the view of the Kanmon Strait.

Create a one-of-a-kind “Ocean Craft” to capture your travel memories

You can experience “shell collage,” creating art by arranging seashells and sea glass. Choose your favorites from a selection of seashells in various colors and shapes, as well as sea glass polished smooth by the waves, then freely arrange them on a backing sheet to create your own unique piece. Through this ocean-themed craft, you can take home a one-of-a-kind souvenir of your trip.

Savor Shimonoseki’s unique flavors, including pufferfish, at the buffet

The restaurant is named “PUKU PUKU,” inspired by the images of pufferfish and water. The interior design features motifs of container ships passing through the Kanmon Strait. You can enjoy a buffet featuring Shimonoseki specialties such as deep-fried pufferfish, pufferfish rice, and pufferfish hot pot.

In addition to a kids’ menu featuring dishes like Napolitan pasta and hamburger steaks, the restaurant offers baby food tailored to each age group for infants. With children’s tableware and a microwave available, families with young children can enjoy their meals with peace of mind.

6:00 PM Kids’ Pastry Chef

Step into the shoes of a pastry chef and try your hand at making a parfait

In a small kitchen area tucked away in “PUKU PUKU,” children can don chef’s coats and experience making their own original parfaits. They’ll pipe whipped cream and freely add toppings like colorful macarons and marshmallows. While enjoying the thrill of being a pastry chef, they’ll create a dessert that’s uniquely their own.

8:00 p.m. Kaihyokan Lecture

Have fun learning about the little-known charms and ecology of pufferfish

In the front desk area, the “Kaikyokan Lecture” is held daily starting at 8:00 PM. Hotel staff—who have gained knowledge from the staff at Kaikyokan, known for boasting the world’s largest collection of pufferfish species—serve as guides, providing a fun introduction to the ecology and characteristics of pufferfish, interspersed with quizzes.Participants will receive an original pufferfish bingo card that can be used at Kaikyokan.

Enjoy a local breakfast buffet with your family

For breakfast, you can enjoy a menu featuring local cuisine and ingredients, such as our original “Kawara Soba”—a Shimonoseki specialty served in fugu broth—and “French Toast” topped with citrus sauce.

The bread corner offers a wide variety of small-sized breads, making it fun to try a little of each. With individual plates available for children , so even the youngest children can experience the joy of choosing their own food.

Pick up original RISONARE Shimonoseki merchandise featuring Shimonoseki motifs!

The shop adjacent to Books&Cafe on the first floor sells local specialty sweets and crafts, as well as original merchandise from RISONARE Shimonoseki. With a selection of baby and toddler apparel, stuffed animals, and other goods, you can enjoy shopping for souvenirs together with your children.

10:30 Introduction to the Kanmon Strait

Enjoy a Kanmon Strait cruise with quizzes and missions

This 30-minute cruise through the Kanmon Strait is guided by RISONARE Shimonoseki staff members, who pose quizzes and challenges along the way. For elementary school-aged children, there’s a special mission called “Navigator’s Mission: Decipher the Navigation Signals.” It’s an experience where you can deepen your knowledge of the Kanmon Strait while enjoying the scenery of Shimonoseki and Moji Port.

12:00 Restaurant with a View of the Dolphins (inside Kaikyokan)

Enjoy a special lunch while watching dolphins swim

A restaurant located inside the Shimonoseki Municipal Aquarium “Kaikyokan.” One entire wall of the restaurant features a large window overlooking the dolphin tank, allowing you to watch the dolphins swim while you dine.

The menu offers a wide variety of options, ranging from hearty steaks, hamburger steaks, and chicken dishes to set meals featuring Shimonoseki’s local specialties—such as kawara soba and whale cutlet—as well as children’s plates.After lunch hours (11:00 AM to 3:00 PM), the restaurant offers à la carte options including desserts, various drinks, and light meals such as spaghetti and pizza.

During the dolphin show, you can watch the dolphins race through the water at breakneck speed as they build up momentum for their jumps.

1:00 p.m. Shimonoseki Aquarium “Kaikyokan”

Fugu from Around the World Gather Here! The Diverse Fugu Exhibition Is a Must-See

This aquarium boasts the world’s largest number of pufferfish species on display and is home to a variety of unique marine creatures, including penguins and sea lions.

Various events are held here, offering an immersive “Dolphin & Sea Lion Presentation.” Additionally, the exhibit area features learning corners where visitors can have fun learning about marine life—such as fish and dolphins—while playing. There’s also a hands-on exhibit area and a touch tank where you can even experience touching starfish.

Of particular note is the “Pufferfish of the World” area. Not only can you observe these adorable and unique pufferfish, but you can also learn about the deep connection between Shimonoseki and pufferfish, as well as their history.The “naminowa” shop offers a wide variety of goods—including stuffed animals and snacks featuring the creatures that call Kaikyokan home—making it a great place to pick up souvenirs or mementos of your trip.

The aquarium offers stroller rentals and is fully equipped with nursing rooms and a kids’ play area, so you can relax and enjoy your visit even with small children.
