With a shallow pool and a slide for toddlers, it’s the perfect place for young children to take their first steps in the water
This indoor heated pool features colorful illustrations of pufferfish. It offers four different pools ranging in depth from 15 cm to 110 cm. In addition to a water slide approximately 30 meters long—accessible to visitors 120 cm or taller—there’s also a low, gentle slide designed for toddlers, so even the youngest children will be captivated.You can rent swim rings and flotation aids for free, making it the perfect place for a child’s first time in the pool.
To use the pool, you must wear a swimsuit or swim diapers—either brought from home or purchased at the front desk. Additionally, children under middle school age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

A preparatory workshop to help you enjoy the “Shimonoseki Municipal Aquarium: Kaikyokan,” which you’ll visit the next day, even more. Anyone can participate for free without a reservation
In the front desk area, the “Kaikyokan Lecture” is held daily starting at 8:00 PM. Hotel staff—who have gained knowledge from the staff at Kaikyokan, known for boasting the world’s largest collection of pufferfish species—serve as guides, providing a fun introduction to the ecology and characteristics of pufferfish, interspersed with quizzes.Participants will receive an original pufferfish bingo card that can be used at Kaikyokan.

For safety reasons, elementary school students and younger must wear a complimentary life jacket when boarding the boat
This 30-minute cruise through the Kanmon Strait is guided by RISONARE Shimonoseki staff members, who pose quizzes and challenges along the way. For elementary school-aged children, there’s a special mission called “Navigator’s Mission: Decipher the Navigation Signals.” It’s an experience where you can deepen your knowledge of the Kanmon Strait while enjoying the scenery of Shimonoseki and Moji Port.

A restaurant located inside the Shimonoseki Municipal Aquarium “Kaikyokan.” One entire wall of the restaurant features a large window overlooking the dolphin tank, allowing you to watch the dolphins swim while you dine.
The menu offers a wide variety of options, ranging from hearty steaks, hamburger steaks, and chicken dishes to set meals featuring Shimonoseki’s local specialties—such as kawara soba and whale cutlet—as well as children’s plates.After lunch hours (11:00 AM to 3:00 PM), the restaurant offers à la carte options including desserts, various drinks, and light meals such as spaghetti and pizza.
During the dolphin show, you can watch the dolphins race through the water at breakneck speed as they build up momentum for their jumps.

The “World of Pufferfish” area, featuring about 100 species of pufferfish, is one of the highlights
This aquarium boasts the world’s largest number of pufferfish species on display and is home to a variety of unique marine creatures, including penguins and sea lions.
Various events are held here, offering an immersive “Dolphin & Sea Lion Presentation.” Additionally, the exhibit area features learning corners where visitors can have fun learning about marine life—such as fish and dolphins—while playing. There’s also a hands-on exhibit area and a touch tank where you can even experience touching starfish.
Of particular note is the “Pufferfish of the World” area. Not only can you observe these adorable and unique pufferfish, but you can also learn about the deep connection between Shimonoseki and pufferfish, as well as their history.The “naminowa” shop offers a wide variety of goods—including stuffed animals and snacks featuring the creatures that call Kaikyokan home—making it a great place to pick up souvenirs or mementos of your trip.
