Charcoal-grilled seafood is fragrant and plump. Rice, local rice cracker soup, apple juice, and other drinks are also available.
Once you arrive in Hachinohe, one of the best port towns in Tohoku, the first thing you will want to do is visit this market. The market features about 60 stores selling freshly landed seafood from Hachinohe Port, freshly picked vegetables, fruits, dry foods, confectioneries, and miscellaneous goods.
For lunch on the first day of the trip, we went to "Shichirinmura," where you can taste foods bought on the spot and grilled over charcoal. Visitors can enjoy scallops, shrimp, squid, oysters, seasonal seafood, beef, and more, grilled to their liking. It is more efficient to pay a fee to reserve a seat before visiting the restaurant. When shopping at the restaurant, tell them you want to grill your food in the shichirin village, and they will cut it for you so that it is easier to grill.

14:00 Kabushima Shrine
Hachinohe's guardian deity, the sea cormorant, dances in the air.
The shrine pavilion, which was rebuilt in 2020, is made of many timbers and other materials from Aomori Prefecture. The park is even more colorful in mid-May when the rape blossoms are in full bloom.
Kabura-shima, a small island connected to the land, is designated as a national natural monument as a breeding ground for petrels. About 30,000 petrels fly to the island every year around the beginning of March, lay eggs, hatch, and leave the island around August.
Kabura-shima Shrine, located at the top of the island, enshrines Benzaiten, the god of fortune, and is believed to be the god of prosperity, good fortune, and good luck. The shrine is also popular for its amulet, which is said to bring good luck in stock prices and popularity, since "turnip" and "stock" are read the same way.
When visiting the temple during the breeding season, be careful not only of the petrels under your feet but also of the poop from overhead. If the poop (luck) hits you, it is a sign of good luck. If you ask at the shrine office, you will receive a "Kaiun (luck) certificate.

Walking around the park takes about 30-40 minutes. Towels are available at the footbaths, so you don't need to bring anything.

It takes about 20 minutes to make a round of the bath. The tour also includes information on the highlights of the park, such as flowers in season and photo spots.
The Nanbu region of Aomori Prefecture is known for its famous horses. Experience the culture that has cherished horses as family members by touring the park in a horse-drawn carriage. The carriage changes its appearance depending on the season, such as the "spring kotatsu carriage" in spring and the "stove carriage" in winter. On the second day, we will visit a sake brewery established in 1775, famous for its famous sake such as "Mutsu Otokoyama" and "Mutsu Hatsusen. Using rice and yeast produced in Aomori Prefecture and famous water from Hachinohe's Kanizawa district, the brewery has continued to produce sake in consideration of the environment and health, and was awarded first place in the "World Sake Breweries Ranking" in 2021.
In addition to the sake, the Taisho-era buildings, such as the plastered earthen storehouse and red brick storehouse, are a must-see. 6 of the buildings are registered as tangible cultural properties of Japan, and visitors can tour the storehouse. In recent years, in addition to sake, the brewery has taken on the challenge of producing a new genre of sake. The Minato Distillery was established to produce a wide variety of spirits. After enjoying sake, go to a famous seafood restaurant. Minato Shokudo" near Mutsu Minato Station won the gold medal in the seafood bowl category of the 1st National Rice Bowl Grand Prix. Many people from all over the country line up to get a bowl of rice topped with a variety of seafood.
We recommend the "Fisherman's Pickled Rice Bowl," which is filled with seasonal seafood. Travel back in time to the Jomon Era through viewing and experiencing
The "Gassho Dogu," a national treasure, is estimated to be about 3,500 years old. It is believed to have been treated with care, as it shows signs of restoration.
Aomori Prefecture is home to many ruins from the Jomon period. The Koregawa Jomon Museum exhibits approximately 600 pieces of earthenware, clay figurines, lacquerware, and other artifacts excavated in Hachinohe City, including the Koregawa Stone Age Site, a World Heritage Site, and the Kazahari 1 Site.
Among the many highlights of the exhibition, a number of clay figurines, including the Shakogu Dogu, are eye-catching. The clay figurines in a variety of poses and richly expressive faces will make you smile. The "Gassho Dogu," a national treasure, is located at the far end of the exhibition hall. It is the only complete clay figurine in Japan that is sitting with its palms together, making it a valuable work of art.

In spring, Hanasaka Jiisan, a Nebuta (traditional Japanese floater), makes an appearance at the Tange Hanasaka Matsuri Festival.

Aomori has always been close to the arts and has produced a wide variety of artists due to its climate that nurtured the Jomon culture. The museum's collection and exhibits works by artists mainly from Aomori Prefecture, including Shiko Munakata, a board painter; Yoshitomo Nara, a contemporary artist; and Toru Narita, who designed Ultraman. The original white-walled building was designed with inspiration from the excavation site of the adjacent "Sannai-Maruyama Ruins," a World Heritage Site. The innovative architectural beauty of the building is also a highlight.
The 8.5-meter tall "Aomori Dog," designed by Yoshitomo Nara, a native of Hirosaki City, is the symbol of the museum. The dog's various expressions, depending on the angle from which it is viewed, are sure to attract visitors. The works of foreign artists, such as the stage backdrop for the ballet "Areco" by the master Chagall, are also not to be missed.

Nebuta are based on legends, Kabuki plays, and military commanders. The attraction is that you can take a close look at every detail of the Nebuta.
The Aomori Nebuta Museum is a must-see for those who want to learn more about the Aomori Nebuta Festival, one of Tohoku's most popular summer festivals. The museum introduces the history of the Nebuta Festival, the production process, and the "Nebuta-masters" who create the floats through exhibits and videos.
The Nebuta Hall, which has a two-story atrium, is lined with large Nebuta floats that have actually been used in festivals. The four brightly colored Nebuta, each measuring 9 meters wide, 5 meters high, and 7 meters deep, are a spectacular sight to behold. Don't miss the "Touch Nebuta," where you can touch the parts of the Nebuta. The intricate framework and texture of the washi paper can be clearly seen, and the passion of the Aomori people for their Nebuta can be felt.
Nebuta musical performances are held daily on the stage. The store sells a variety of Nebuta goods, including T-shirts and other sundries.

The last stop on the journey is a spot where Aomori's delicious food is gathered. Aomoriya by Hoshino Resorts is a complex Property with a food market and a workshop for cider, a sparkling wine made from apples.
The apples used to make Aomori Cidre, an original brand, are 100% grown in Aomori Prefecture. The cider, made from a blend of Fuji and Jonagold apples, has a fine bubbly taste and a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. A variety of sweet and dry ciders are available. The non-alcoholic "Apple Soda" made only with Jonagold is also popular.
