Hachinohe

In this port town, which boasts one of the largest fish catches in Japan, the markets and morning markets where many people visit in search of fresh fish are bustling with activity. The town also has a long history, with three of Aomori Prefecture's national treasures located in Hachinohe, and you can see traces of this at the Kushihiki Hachimangu Shrine and the grand Hachinohe Sansha Taisai festival. Other unique spots not to be missed include Kabushima Island, a breeding ground for black-tailed gulls, and the Tomb of Christ.
