Particularly noteworthy are two types of bread available exclusively at the New Chitose Airport store: “Biei Corn Bread” and “Biei Bean Bread,” created in collaboration with the Shibuya, Tokyo-based boulangerie “VIRON.”The “Biei Corn Bread” is a luxurious loaf baked using only the moisture and natural sweetness of sweet corn—without any added water or sugar. The dough is yellow like corn, and the inside is packed with corn kernels. It has a moist, sweet, and gentle flavor.

Souvenirs and in-flight meals
“Biei Bean Bread” is a bean-packed loaf made with five types of beans grown in Biei—red adzuki beans, black beans, tebō beans, kintoki beans, and green peas—which are baked not only on the surface but also throughout the interior. Both varieties are baked in-store, and they’re so popular that lines form even before they come out of the oven.
While “Corn Bread” is baked 7 to 8 times a day, “Bean Bread” is baked only once at opening time, so it often sells out immediately. Each box contains five pieces, and purchases are limited to a total of two boxes per person per day.Since they aren’t sold individually, you’ll need to buy them by the box—they make great souvenirs to take home or a tasty snack to enjoy on your flight.

4Sapporo Central Wholesale Market Seafood Broker Sapporo Seafoods (Sapporo Fish Market Gojyuban Sushi)
Standing sushi in the corner of the souvenir store
Attached to a store directly operated by a seafood wholesaler, the counter-style standing sushi spot is gaining popularity. Orders are placed via a touchscreen that supports two languages, but the sushi is authentic, prepared right before your eyes by a skilled chef. The appeal lies in being able to casually enjoy fresh seafood—sourced at the market by expert wholesalers and delivered every morning—in a relaxed setting.
The sushi is served with soy sauce already brushed on to complement each topping. In addition to local specialties like raw atka mackerel, red seabass, and herring, if you’re lucky, you can also sample “Keiji” salmon—known as the “phantom salmon”—and rare grape shrimp.
After picking up sushi, you can choose your souvenirs!
The Sapporo Seafoods store is a great place to look for souvenirs. Various kinds of seafood are available, including not only crab, but also dried fish such as hokke and saury, salmon roe in soy sauce, and more. Especially popular is the original product "Kita no Jewel Box. It is a luxurious version of Matsumaezuke with two whole abalones.
If you are in doubt about what to buy, ask a Staff/staff member. The staff, dressed in market uniforms, will be happy to tell you what they recommend. This is the only Sapporo Seafoods store at the airport. It is a convenient place to pick up souvenirs and have a sushi meal.

5Salmon-no-Marukame
Salmon that can be eaten as sashimi is popular
Marugame is a salmon specialty store established in 1935. It handles Hokkaido salmon in an integrated system from processing to sales. A representative product is "Handmade Sashimi Salmon," a very lightly salted product that can be enjoyed as sashimi or grilled. We offer seasonal salmon such as Tokifuchi, which is fatty in early summer, and "Ginke" male salmon in autumn. There is a wide lineup of products, from whole salmon to half-fish fillets, and even sashimi salmon. It is a popular souvenir of Hokkaido.
Salmon rice balls freshly made by a salmon specialty store
While “Marugame”’s main store is in Sapporo, the “Salmon Onigiri” is a limited-edition item exclusive to the New Chitose Airport location. Available for takeout, it’s made to order at the onigiri counter in a corner of the store.
The rice is a blend of Hokkaido-grown rice formulated specifically for these onigiri. They shape the rice mixed with flaked salmon into balls, wrap them in nori, and top each one with your choice of ingredients, such as ikura, salmon roe, or grilled salmon roe.

6Shimanohito New Chitose Airport Branch/Gate Lounge Branch
Fresh seafood rice bowl before boarding the plane
Shima no Hito" carries carefully selected seafood from Hokkaido, including Rebun Island, Japan's northernmost remote island. There are two stores in the airport: a souvenir store in Shopping World on the 2nd floor of the domestic terminal building, and an eat-in store in the gate lounge inside the boarding area (near JAL gate 12).
For departing passengers, we recommend the Kaisen-don (seafood bowl) at the gate lounge store. You can enjoy seasonal seafood such as melt-in-your-mouth raw sea urchin without any alum, and salmon roe in Rishiri kelp broth soy sauce. Hokkaido sake and Rebun Island craft beer are also available, and if you are short on time before your flight, there are boxed lunches available for in-flight consumption.
Islander" brand products with carefully selected delicacies
The souvenir store in the Dosanko Sanchoku Ichiba (Dosanko Direct Market) on the 2nd floor of the Domestic Terminal Building's Shopping World offers a wide selection of Rebun Island seafood and other products. The most popular item is the "Salmon Kelp Overlapping Roll. It is made by layering fatty salmon and Hokkaido kelp and simmering them slowly, and is well known for its tenderness and the fact that you can eat the whole salmon, even the inside bones. Other delicacies from the North Sea include the fantastic "Island Buffoon Sea Urchin" from Rebun Rishiri Island, which is only available from June to August, salmon roe, dried fish, and many other delicacies. If it is too difficult to take home with you, we can also ship it nationwide.

7Ebisoba Ichigen New Chitose Airport Branch
Excellent soup made by boiling the heads of amaebi (sweet shrimp)
On the third floor of the airport's domestic flight, among the ramen stores lining the "Hokkaido Ramen Dojo," there is always a long line of customers waiting to try this popular store. As the name "Ebi Soba" suggests, the soup is made by slowly simmering the heads of sweet shrimp, and is unique to this restaurant.
There are two types to choose from: "as is," which allows you to enjoy the flavor of the shrimp straight from the shrimp, and "ajiwai," which is a blend of tonkotsu (pork bone) soup. Both of them allow you to enjoy the flavor and deliciousness of the shrimp with just one sip. The toppings include crunchy tenkasu, which is deep-fried shrimp flavored red ginger kneaded into the batter, and shrimp powder to accentuate the flavor.
The one and only taste of sweet shrimp aroma and flavor spreads
When it comes to Hokkaido ramen, “Hakodate Shio,” “Sapporo Miso,” and “Asahikawa Shoyu” are the classic, well-known varieties, but “Ebisoba Ichigen” offers a one-of-a-kind flavor. If you’re a ramen lover, it’s definitely worth trying at least once.
The two most popular orders are the light and refreshing “Nama-ebi Shio” and the quintessentially Hokkaido “Ajewai Ebi Miso.” The thick, straight noodles blend perfectly with the rich broth, creating an exquisite flavor. Since the restaurant is often packed all day long, it’s best to aim for opening time or just before last call.
