Ayano Inamine
Okinawan staff

A healing presence with a gentle smile and tone, but surprisingly, I am a self-proclaimed impatient person who acts quickly. I love not only the ocean but also the culture and history of Okinawa, and I am putting that passion to great use in my work. I am an Okinawan staff member who was born and raised here and loves Okinawa dearly.

HOSHINOYA Okinawa
Recommended dinner restaurants in the Yomitan area of Okinawa

Located in Yomitan Village in the central part of Okinawa Island, about a 60-minute drive from Naha Airport, HOSHINOYA Okinawa opened on July 1, 2020. The property stretches along a beautiful coastline and is enclosed by a "Gusuku Wall," inspired by Okinawa's historic "gusuku" castle ruins. The facility features oceanfront guest rooms, a pool open to the sea that can be enjoyed year-round, and a dojo that serves as a hub for activities, among various other public areas. For dining, guests can enjoy "Ryukyu Siciliana," a fusion of Okinawan ingredients and Sicilian culinary techniques. In this space that gathers the luxuries of Okinawa, you can enjoy a stay that feels like living while gazing out at the sea.

What are your recommended spots in the Yomitan area?

Gala Aoi Umi is a complex that brings together Ryukyu glass making experiences, yachimun (pottery) experiences, and diving shops.
Since you can take your Okinawa experiences home with you, it is a recommended place for making memories.
Also, there is a local American-style pizza shop, so I think it is a place where you can feel the duality of Okinawa, where both Okinawan and American cultures remain.

Please secretly tell us some hidden gems that only a local would know.

I recommend a beach called Zanehama, located behind Cape Maeda, about a 15-minute drive from HOSHINOYA Okinawa.
On sunny days, you can see fish and starfish in the shallows.
Zanehama has deep historical significance; there is a rock window that was opened during the war to place a gun emplacement.
Although it is currently used as a photo spot, it is also registered as a cultural property, making it a valuable beach where you can learn about history.

What is a trip that remains in your memory?

My trip to Thailand for my graduation trip with university friends left a lasting impression on me. Thailand is famous for its rich food culture, and I was so shocked that I could eat a one-plate meal for 100 yen that I ate it about five times during my stay. I also still vividly remember the moment I was able to hold a baby tiger and take a picture, which had been a dream of mine.

How do you spend your days off?

Going to the beach, going to the mountains, going to waterfalls,
going to cafes... People often think Okinawa only has the ocean, but it is also rich in greenery, so I basically spend my time enjoying Okinawa's nature.
After that, I often go to a cafe.
Delicious food after moving around on a day off is the best.

Is there anything you always bring with you when you travel?

My travel item is an Instax camera. I also keep travel memories on my phone, but the good thing about an Instax is that you can print the memories you just captured right away. I like it because I can share the fun of the trip on the spot, whether by giving photos to friends I traveled with or giving them as gifts to people I meet locally.
